From pretty Wisconsin beaches to wicked water parks, Wisconsin has it all in the weather months, so it's no surprise the state is one of America's favorites for anything that commands water and fun in the same sentence. And now, as of 2022, it gets even better; swimmers, summertime fans, and adrenaline junkies in Wisconsin can rejoice, for what could possibly be the region's greatest water park has a hair-rising new addition that's set to blast the thrill bar up into the skies.

A brand-new concept, this innovation is being called a 'Ferris wheel waterslide combo,' and it's nothing short of mind-and-body blowing. Located at Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin - deservedly dubbed the water park capital of America - the floodgates to the country's very first and only ever-rotating waterslide have just opened.

Ride Medusa's Slidewheel at Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park

Second-generation owners of Wisconsin's largest water park, Nick and Eva Laskaris conjured the concept up from inspiration garnered at an industry trade show where they spoke with WhiteWater - a global water park attraction designer. With time and funds, the genius minds and hands behind this German-manufactured feast of watery fun have built the ultimate waterslide to wash away all water slides. At 80 feet high and 100 feet wide, the idea that saw this beast brought to life is based upon a fresh, original take: a conventional waterslide come fairground wheel - and boy, does it deliver.

As its name and design dangle the hint like a carrot, the ride splashes the movement of a Ferris wheel with the heart-thumping speed and buzzing thrill of a waterslide to create an all-new water park experience like none other in the country - the only other two rides similar in style to this bad boy being located far across the pond in Poland and China.

Baptized Medusa's Slidewheel - what a gloriously befitting name indeed - the crazy starts with thrill-seekers donned in bathing suits getting into a four-person raft in a constantly moving automated conveyor belt-like entrance, where said rafts move along collecting each person in waiting. Once seated and ready, rafters venture into a nifty network of tubes on a horizontal axis, which sees its screeching sliders slip and slide through whizzing tunnels that rotate up to 80 times per minute throughout the approximately 96 seconds that the ride lasts - which will undoubtedly feel like the longest, most thrilling 96 seconds of the day.

Not like any old waterslide, riders lucky enough to try this baby out get to enjoy the best of both for the epitome of water park adventure - a traditional waterslide slipping back and forth, blended with the energized sensation of speeds up to 25 miles per hour, g-forces, and even air time, all rounded off to perfection by the ride's pendulum movement and rotations.
