Universal Pictures is one of the great movie companies in the world and the oldest surviving film studio in the United States. It is the oldest of the "Big Five" Hollywood studios (the others being Paramount, Columbia, Disney, and Warner Bros.). Universal was founded in 1912 and is based in Universal City, California (with corporate offices in New York City).

Today Universal is also famous for its world-class theme parks. Universal Studios Japan is arguably world traveling across the world to visit. Universal Studios is also one of the top two theme parks in Orlando, Florida (Disney being the other one). The theme parks are full of some of the world's most memorable rollercoaster rides.

Take A Universal Studios Behind The Scenes Tour

Universal offers the opportunity to go behind the scenes and see the workings of real movie studios with their Studio Tour. The studio has made some of the most famous movies like The Fast and the Furious series, the Jurassic Park series, King Kong, the Despicable Me series, Jaws, E.T., and many others.

On the tour, visitors visit 13 city blocks on over 400 acres of historic studio ground in the largest set construction project in studio history. The set was built with consultation from Steven Spielberg himself.

The video host of the tour is Jimmy Fallon. New in 2022, visitors can see the original Jupiter's Claim set from Jordan Peele’s latest horror epic, NOPE (visitors get to experience an exclusive behind-the-scenes peek). Universal also offers Studio Tours in Spanish on select days.

  • Run Time: Approx. 60 Minutes

Highlights of the Studio Tour include going behind the scenes into the world’s busiest movie and television production studio lots, an encounter with the infamous shark from Jaws, King Kong 360 3D, exploring the wreckage of the Boeing 747 from Steven Spielberg's War of the Worlds, and Fast & Furious Supercharged.

King Kong 360 3D - The Eighth Wonder Of The World

In 1933, King Kong broke the limits of film and awe-inspired audiences the world over. No one had ever seen such a stop-motion-capture battle between prehistoric dinosaurs and a giant gorilla before. The audiences of the 1930s were overawed by the massive gorilla in love with a beautiful young woman climbing the newly built Empire State Building and battling airplanes on the top. In 2005, Universal returned a re-imagined King Kong to the screens in the second remake of the ground-breaking 1933 film. The movie was directed by Peter Jackson, and much of the production took place in New Zealand. At the time, it was one of the most expensive movies ever made.

  • Largest: 3D Experience in The World

On Universal's Studio Tour, guests are over-awed by the award-winning King Kong 360-3D created by Peter Jackson. This is the world's largest 3-D experience and is exclusive to the Universal Studios Hollywood Studio Tour.
