We don't all love flying and can sometimes worsen the experience. While many embrace the magic of air travel and could honestly be walking around their neighborhood, they're so chill, others have a much tougher time.

But one thing is certain no matter what kind of flyer you are: you expect the pilot to be trained, professional, intelligent, and know what they're doing.

Pilots might not share everything with us but there are some announcements that a good pilot will make. Keep reading to find out which ones you can expect to hear.

A Good Pilot Will Explain Some Geography For Interest's Sake And For Anxious Travelers

We focus on irritating plane passengers and can totally forget that flying is totally amazing and cool. We would definitely appreciate if a pilot mentioned the area that we were flying over, and as it turns out, a great pilot will do just that.

It's a good idea for pilots to explain some geography because it's interesting but also because some travelers are anxious. A pilot writing a story about their experience for Plane And Pilot Mag shared that they might say they're going "across the Sahara" and provide some details about the journey that is being taken.

'Area Of Weather' Or 'EFC Time'

There are many typical announcements that pilots make and they're all important. Two of these announcements that good pilots will make include "area of weather" or "EFC Time." And since anxious flyers and total pros alike can't get down with turbulence, we're going to want to hear about this.

Cheat Sheet explains that when passengers hear a pilot say the phrase "area of weather" this means that there's some horrible weather happening and the pilot is using a different flight route so they don't experience turbulence. When you hear this, you can definitely be glad.

The website also says that "EFC Time" means "Expect Further Clearance." Cheat Sheet explains, "When a flight is in a holding pattern or has been ground stopped, the EFC time indicates that the pilot has received word that landing or take-off (whichever applies) is imminent."

'It's Our Final Approach Into Our Destination City'

According to Cheat Sheet, pilots will say something like, "Ladies and gentlemen, we are now on our final approach into..." and they will insert the city that they are flying into. This is definitely an announcement that we can expect good pilots to make.

It would be pretty strange if a pilot didn't make this particular announcement since we all want to be reassured that we're going to land soon and that our journey is almost finished. Even if we're the best at flying, we can still probably relate to that feeling since we want to be on vacation already or arrive safely at home.

They Will Say Something Interesting Like 'Ladies And Gents, Boys And Girls' To Make Sure People Pay Attention

The same captain also said that they want to say something interesting to make sure that people pay attention. They realized that people who travel a lot have heard pilots talking about safety and passengers can ignore it since they figure that they've heard it all before. He explained, "One trick, then, is to slightly vary the start of the announcement. My favorite such variation, which I often hear from senior captains, is 'Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls'—it catches the ear."

It's cool to learn more about the types of announcements that good pilots should be making on every flight that they take. Let's hope that the next time we fly, we hear all of these announcements.
