We could all use a bit of magic right now and with so many at home and seeking new dishes to make, there's no reason why a little inspiration can't come from everyone's favorite world of wizardry and magic: Harry Potter. The movies brought every scene in the novels to life, including the food, which was admired by every fan out there. It wasn't long before we all began thinking about how fun it would be to capture a chocolate frog or how delicious a pumpkin pastie would be, especially when the autumn and winter seasons roll around, which are so prevalent in both the books in the movies.

This is where the true magic comes in, though - many of these things can be made right in the comfort of one's own kitchen with a little creativity and know-how. Some are easier made than others but they can all be done with a bit of practice, and some are altogether painfully easy to make. Out of all the treats from Hogwarts and Diagon Alley, these are the ones that stuck with fans and the snacks that are the most recreated.

Treacle Tart

Not surprisingly, treacle tart has been around since the 19th century when it was first seen in a cookbook by Mary Jewry, an English author. Since then, it has remained a fairly popular sweet tart in England. It's made with a shortbread crust, light golden syrup, lemon juice, and breadcrumbs.

It's a simple yet delicious dessert and can be served with a scoop of clotted cream for a traditional English dish or on its own for those who like the tart plain and simple. To recreate it, the recipe is no more complicated than a regular tart recipe, and in order to create a more custard-like filling, eggs or cream can be added to the filling.

Steak And Kidney Pie

While this might not sound appetizing, it's a dish that's commonly seen in Hogwarts, especially during large celebrations. While it might just be a popular dish due to the fact that it's unique and memorable, we have to believe that there's something about it that kept wizards and witches coming back to eat it again and again.

Similar to a pot pie, this dish is wholly British in its origins and combines tender pieces of steak, kidney, brown crazy, and fried onion to create a savory mix that's perfectly delightful. It might not sound appetizing but both the beef and kidney are diced in such small pieces that they end up cooking to tender perfection, making for a well-balanced and comforting winter dish.

Pumpkin Pasties

A pumpkin pastie is essentially pumpkin pie fill, that's mixed into a pie dough, which is then shaped into a hand pie. The inside is filled with pumpkin puree, eggs, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and vanilla extract, no different to what would go into an actual pumpkin pie.

Therefore, in the US, these would be called quite simply 'pumpkin hand pies.' However, in England, they're referred to as 'pasties,' but they're really quite similar. They're also one of the easiest treats to make as they take nothing at all but a bit of mixing and pressing in order to get the pasties to seal properly.

Chocolate Frogs

With the proper frog mold, chocolate frogs can be created very easily. They won't be jumping off the table or out of the oven but they will resemble the chocolate frogs as seen in the movies and, to be honest, we're low-key thankful that these ones won't be jumping around anytime soon.

The fun part about recreating these at home is that depending on which chocolate one uses to create these frogs - dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and white chocolate are all just as easy to use - they'll be just as delicious as they look on-screen. The only hard part will be allowing them to cool and set before eating!

Cauldron Cakes

Out of all treats to make at home, cauldron cakes prove to be the most challenging. The difficult part isn't creating the actual cake, but rather, creating the actual 'cauldron' decorations and icing that adorn the cakes.

These have been seen in many bakeries that have created their own cauldron cakes and to make them at home will take a bit of patience and practice. Then again, so does everything worth creating! A little ingenuity and research (and perhaps a YouTube tutorial or two) and you'll be whipping up edible cauldrons in no time.
