Staying in a hotel room is an awesome break from our regular life. We get to relax in a comfy bed, daydream about all of the experiences that we're going to have on our vacation, and hopefully watch some reality TV or a feel-good movie. We generally expect to find the same things in hotel rooms: a fluffy white robe, some tiny bottles of shampoo and conditioner, and maybe a binder full of information about the area and take-out menus.

A lot of people who either work in hotels or who have traveled have shared their stories of objects that they discovered in a hotel room. And these things are so strange and random that we can't help but be wildly entertained by these stories.

Read on to find out the super weird things that people have actually found in hotels.

A Notebook From A Big Salad Fan

Some people genuinely enjoy eating salad each day. It's an easy thing to make for lunch and bring to work, or a nice side dish at dinner. Add some protein and you're set. But do we adore it so much that we would write about it in a notebook? Probably not... and yet this is something that someone actually did.

According to Business Insider, a B&B owner came across a notebook proclaiming someone's adoration for salad. Yes, really. This sounds way too strange to be true but it did happen. They posted on Reddit, "As the owner of a bed and breakfast place for the last eight years, the craziest thing I ever found was an old battered notebook with 'Why I love salad' written on the front and then literally 40-80 pages on why salad was amazing."

A Ton Of Pies

Even if we're not big fans of salad, we probably enjoy pie or at least one flavor of it. We would definitely be surprised to walk into a hotel room or bathroom and find pies all over. It's super strange and really couldn't be more random.

Cosmpolitan told the story of someone who worked a hotel and said that they named a frequent guest "Pie Guy" because he kept asking to stay in a room and then putting pies in the washroom (and the tub in particular). The employee was quoted saying, "He never came to the desk for his deposit, as he knew he wouldn't be getting it back. We added his name to our 'do not rent' list but he kept coming back and using different names."

We wonder what this person's motivations were? Did they think that this was a prank or something? Whatever was going on, it sounds like they were pretty determined. We're curious how long this went on for. It's a really unique situation to have to deal with at work.

Milk That Was Way Past Its Expiration Date

There's really nothing worse than the smell of milk that is past its expiration date. It's tough to forget that smell. According to a post on Reddit, people stayed in a hotel and had a not-so-sweet smelling surprise for the employees: milk that definitely wasn't fresh. The post says, "Guests stayed for three days, left behind three-week-old expired milk. So that means when they came in the milk was already two and a half weeks past due. Who lugs around rotten milk with them?"

This is awful to hear about, and we can only imagine the look on the employee's face when they discovered this milk.

A Fake Limb

You definitely wouldn't expect to walk into a hotel room and find a fake limb, but that's exactly what happened to someone when they booked a hotel stay in London. They told Business Insider that this is still something that they think about today: they said, "Yes, a left foot was left under a bed. (How did the guest forget that??)" They continued, "A security person came and put it in a large garbage bag, as he did not want to leave the room with a body part."

This is pretty unnerving to hear about. If we worked at a hotel and found a fake limb, we would totally run away screaming in the other direction. It's hard to imagine finding something weirder and more random than this object. We're not even sure how we would explain this to people. They would give us some pretty confused looks.

The next time we stay in a hotel, we can count ourselves lucky if we find all the usual suspects, from a phone on the bedside table, an ironing board in the closet, and some clean towels in the bathroom.
