We could give our opinion but that wouldn't be any fun. Anyone who has ever posted a single thing on social media is well aware of how fast word (and posts) can travel, especially when they're food-related. Pretty food travels fast but unique and unusual food travels rapidly and thus, social media food trends are born. As of late, people are having more time to bond with food and are definitely coming up with some creative new options for otherwise traditional dishes and snacks, making the interwebs quite an interesting place to be.

There might be many opinions circulating about whether or not these foods are good but this isn't about that... It's about the nature of the beast, pure and simple, especially when that beast is a brownie that's been used as the base for a sandwich. And yes, that's an entirely accurate description of one of these trends. Ready for some more?

The Famous Ramen Burger

Not so new but still so famous, the ramen burger has become a permanent fixture on many menus. It has also since become a popular street food, second only to a bowl of ramen itself. With a crunchy, crispy top and bottom bun and a solid base for a juicy patty, there's really nothing not to love about this reimagined burger.

It might not be the traditional all-American burger that many of us are used to seeing at family BBQs, but it has definitely made a name for itself. This is one of those food trends that many roll their eyes at until they give it a try... Then quickly realize the error of their ways and order two more.

Tuned-In With Nature Raindrop Cakes

Is it a cake or is it a giant sphere of water? Raindrop cakes confused many when they were first pictured and described and it's easy to see why. Created in Japan by chef Darren Wong, these zero-calorie desserts are popular for their health benefits as well as their new-age, molecular gastronomy foundations.

Consisting of water and agar agar, these cakes are usually served with a sweet flavoring such as brown sugar syrup and a soybean powder of sorts. They can vary in color, making them visually stunning as well as slightly confusing. All in all, they're a beautiful addition to the world of desserts and are nothing short of a work of culinary art.

The Bold Lobster Pizza

A travesty against pizza or a streak of sheer brilliance? The lobster pizza has also recently taken the social media world by storm but interestingly enough, this isn't the first time that seafood has been seen on a pizza. In Japan, found in places as common as Costco, is the shrimp pizza - a pizza that's ready to be popped in the open with tiny, cooked shrimps adorning the top layer.

It's unusual to have seafood and cheese together but then again, no one cringing while eating a parmesan cream sauce or a seafood alfredo, so... similar vibe?

Sugar Shocking Brownie Sandwich

It should be illegal but thankfully, it is not. The brownie sandwich slipped under the radar a bit but didn't escape our line of sight. Rather than sandwiching two cookies around a healthy scoop of ice cream, a brownie is used instead... Good luck containing your excitement over this simple creation. Now, other themes, such as s'mores, are substituting for ice cream, making this the equivalent of a sundae without the ice cream.

Vibrant Rainbow Bagels

These colorful treats are being smothered with birthday cake cream cheese and to be honest, it's not entirely wrong. It's a challenge to determine whether these should be eaten for breakfast or dessert but the good news about eating one for breakfast is that the calories (and pounds of sugar) can be burned off throughout the day! There's something so magical about rainbow-colored food and having it in a form that's as convenient as a bagel is truly a show-stopping creation.

The Hybrid Cronut

Cronuts are delicious and many would happily argue with anyone who says otherwise. The hybrid love child of a donut and a croissant, the cronut can now be found widely in bakeries around the world. This version of a donut is fluffier, satisfying, and light, despite the fact that it's roughly double the size of a normal donut. They can be rolled in sugar, topped with frosting, or even filled with a delicious interior -  but there's no denying that this is definitely the right way to start off anyone's morning.
