10 DRIVE YOURSELF

The most obvious option to get from city to city is to drive yourself. Of course, if you have a car, you can just hop in and drive. The trip is only about four hours give or take. But, if traffic is bad the trip could be much longer.

The downside to this method is that many people in NYC don’t have cars since it’s not very practical there. Also, driving in traffic can be quite stressful, and you won’t be able to relax on the journey.

9 TAKE AN UBER

This isn’t the most practical way of getting from New York to Boston by any means, but it is definitely an option. A rough estimate of price puts a one-way trip at about 700 dollars. So, most people aren’t going to be using this option, especially because it’s not super efficient either.

However, if you have a lot of extra money to spare or are in some sort of weird bind, it would be possible to take an Uber between these two cities.

8 HIRE A PRIVATE CAR

Similarly to calling yourself an Uber for this long drive, you could hire a private car with a company. This option has a couple of advantages over Uber in that you will likely be getting better customer service.

The car might have more amenities depending on which type of care you choose. And, surprisingly enough, many limousines and private car services are actually cheaper than an Uber in this situation. Depending on the model of car and the company, you can make the trip for $200-400 dollars and have the car be a bit more stylish.

7 BOLTBUS

One of the most obvious and frequently used methods of traveling between NYC and Boston is buying a bus ticket. There are multiple places in the city that you can get on a bus from the Port Authority to Chinatown and more.

Buses are pretty cheap, and you can bring your luggage with you as long as you don’t have too much. Boltbus is a common bus line used between the two cities, but it’s not the only one. The downside to bus travel is that it’s not super fast, and you also have to share the ride with a lot of other people.

6 RENT A CAR

If you don’t have a car but need one for your trip, renting a car is a good option. While hiring a car can get you from point A to point B, you’ll still be left without transportation once you get to Boston.

If you want to be able to explore the city or need to drive somewhere else once you arrive, renting a car is the best option. While not always super cheap, renting a car is accessible for many people, and you can choose how big of a car you will need.

5 TAKE A FLIGHT

Plane travel is always fast, and it’s possible to take a flight from New York to Boston since there are many flights going out every day. However, taking a commercial flight might not save you time in this instance.

While the flight time is only about an hour, you’ll still likely need to arrive at the airport an hour or two early. Plus, getting to the airport in NYC can be a bit of a trek and take an hour or more depending on where in the city you’re coming from. So, in some situations, a flight is easier, but it’s not much faster.

4 GREYHOUND BUS

When people think of bus travel, they often think of taking a Greyhound bus. This bus line is a tried and true method of getting from one place to another, and there are many Greyhound buses leaving from NYC to Boston.

The travel time on a Greyhound is the same as with any other bus usually. Greyhounds tend to be a little more expensive than some of the other bus services, but they do tend to have slightly better amenities.

3 MEGABUS OR ANOTHER LINE

The great thing about taking a bus from New York is that there are so many options. You can easily compare prices and amenities to find the right option for you. With so many bus lines, you’ll have the ability to find a time that fits your schedule and a location that’s easy for you to get to.

Most of the bus lines are just fine. The only downside is that sometimes buses can be rather packed full of people making for an uncomfortable trip.

2 TAKE THE LIMOLINER

The LimoLiner is another bus service, but it’s a little different from the rest. This is a luxury bus that gives you a lot more space, comfortable seats, and food. You will have someone there to bring you drinks, snacks, and even meals, just like on a flight.

They also provide you with a hot towel and wine on evening trips. Plus, you can bring your pet. The only downside is that the LimoLiner is the most expensive bus option, but it might be worth it.

1 AMTRAK

The last main option to get from New York to Boston is to take the Amtrak. The train is an enjoyable experience that many people don’t do often. However, the train tends to be more expensive than the bus.
