No matter how much time goes past, there are certain unsolved mysteries that we just can’t forget about, even if the rest of the world has. Over the years, there have been several incidents and findings that not even qualified scientists can explain. Check out these chilling mysteries that remain unsolved.

The Deaths In Dyatlov Pass

The Dyatlov Pass incident took place on the slopes of Russia’s Dead Mountain, which has since become one of Europe’s most mysterious destinations that even seasoned hikers think twice about visiting. An experienced trekking group of nine led by Igor Dyatlov embarked on an expedition in February of 1959.

Their bodies were later discovered in the surrounding woods in the strangest conditions. While six of the trekkers died from hypothermia, three showed signs of physical trauma, including a fractured skull and major chest fractures. One hiker was missing a tongue, while the other missing both eyes. Their tent was found buried in snow with most of their belongings still inside and had been cut open from the inside. The only footprints found in the area belonged to the hikers, who were severely underdressed for the freezing conditions, with some not even wearing shoes or socks. This suggests that something occurred in the middle of the night that caused them to flee.

To this day, investigators still don’t know for certain what happened to the hikers. The deaths have been put down to an avalanche, which caused the group to flee without warning, katabatic wind, and even Soviet parachute mine testing. Some scientists suggest they removed their clothes in a phenomenon known as paradoxical undressing, which sometimes happens as a result of hypothermia. Their missing eyeballs and other soft tissue damage has been attributed to scavenging animals.

The Devil’s Footprints In Devon

In 1855, an alarming sight appeared in the English county of Devon. Hoof-like prints had appeared in the snow across the towns in the southern part of the county on the morning of February 9. The footprints stretched across 40 miles, leading investigators at the time to believe that no earthly animal could have caused them.

The most superstitious locals claimed that the footprints belonged to the devil, who is described in Christian texts as having cloven hooves like a goat. Others put it down to an escaped kangaroo or even a balloon carrying a rope with an end shaped like a horseshoe. The footprints never appeared again and the mystery behind them was never solved.

The 1964 Sighting Of The Solway Spaceman

One of the planet’s biggest unsolved historical mysteries was the 1964 sighting of the Solway Spaceman. On May 23, 1964, Jim Templeton of the Cumbrian fire service took a photo of his daughter on the Solway Firth which forms part of the Scottish-English border. The developed photo of his daughter showed a strange figure floating in the background.

The figure was seen to be wearing a white spacesuit. Detectives were unable to explain the figure, and even Kodak had no answers. Today, some believe that the figure was really the girl’s mother, who was wearing a headscarf and happened to be standing a few paces behind her.

The Mystery Of The Bermuda Triangle

Easily one of history’s greatest unsolved mysteries is that of the Bermuda Triangle. Sometimes referred to as the Devil’s Triangle, the Bermuda Triangle is a triangular section of the North Atlantic Ocean bordered by Bermuda, Puerto Rico, and Miami, Florida. Numerous vessels have gone missing in the mysterious area, never to be seen again.

There have been endless theories as to what is causing the ships and planes to vanish. Some scientists speculate that the area is home to 100-foot waves that take down the vessels in the area. Others have put the disappearances down to UFOs and sea monsters. Despite the theories, the truth behind the Bermuda Triangle still remains a mystery.
