Skydiving can be the greatest sport/hobby or your worst nightmare.

It's four big phobias combined into one: fear of heights, the unknown (every newbie experiences this), anxiety (what if the chute malfunctions?), and the worst of all, the fear of death. Even veteran skydivers still get panic attacks up in the air. But isn't that what makes skydiving one of the best extreme sports in the world.

Let's face it: skydiving is not for everyone. Even thinking about it gives people an adrenaline rush but the stunning views from above are second to none. But like they say, YOLO. Facing this fear might be one of your greatest achievements and can earn you sweet bragging rights.

We're here to help you decide if skydiving is right for you. From people passing out, to midair collisions, to near death experiences, it's nothing like the movies.

Read on and find out what makes this such an extreme sport (with photo evidence to back up our claims).

12 A First Timer's Fear

Every skydiver experiences that sudden rush known as the "fight or flight" instinct and only those who are adept at the sport can manage it well. It is a little difficult for starters and first-timers rarely walk out unscathed even with safety measures in place. From wet pants to shell shocked faces, newbie skydiving reactions are hilarious.

11 "Tough" US Marine Passes Out 3 Times

Even the bravest warriors on the planet can get scared such as this young recruit, trying to overcome Acrophobia (the fear of heights). He lost his soul not just once but thrice on the way down. What makes this even crazier is that he never rode a roller coaster once in his life and he jumped to the highest level straight away.

10 Mile-High Shave Goes Wrong

Another meme-worthy photo showing a master multitasker, or a Darwin Award nominee. One wrong move and his partner may have gotten injured and this whole thing might have ended up on LiveLeak. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. This was probably a dare. A stupid one.

9 Epic Proposal Fail (Ring Slips Out Of His Hand)

Popping the question at 12,500 feet during free fall might not be the wisest thing to do. Firefighter Brandon Strohbehn botched the proposal as he struggled to open the box and the ring slipped out, never to be seen again. Once they landed though, his brother had a spare ring and he nailed the proposal this time.

8 Meme Worthy Face!

Only in skydiving you can make the most hilarious faces. The newbie diver above shows what 12 Gs (equivalent to a violent chiropractor) can do to your face. Gravity works wonders and can rearrange your body parts. Derp faces, troll faces, you name it. If you are the ultimate thrill seeker, try skydiving.

7 Skydive Training Prank

A TV show took a prank too far and ended up traumatizing another victim. Imagine not knowing where you are, blindfolded, made to believe you're about to jump off a plane. Your first instinct is to either cry like a baby and wet your pants or wrestle everyone around you and find a way to escape.

6 Nasty Midair Collision

At 200 mph in the sky, knee meets face and the results are devastating. If it wasn't for his buddy's quick thinking, he wouldn't have able to survive. He got knocked unconscious and his partner was able to pull his ripcord while he was out. He was so concussed that he lost three days of memory, but for some reason, was still able to land by himself.

5 It's A Miracle That He Survived

This photo, captured in an airfield in Florida, is proof that miracles happen. The 87-year old pilot was doing maneuvers when a skydiver got entangled with the plane and flipped the skydiver in the air. You might think that this sort of stuff only happens in Hollywood and what makes it even crazier is that no one got seriously hurt.

4 Totally Unimpressed

Some tourists are just forced to jump and ironically, that's when the greatest reactions are captured. The woman on the photo seems to be bothered and has had enough of it while her partner looks like he's having a tough time. Oh well. She must be a fun person at parties.

3 First-Time Jumpers Won't Exit The Plane

When anxiety grips you 12,000 ft. above the air, it's embarrassing and you have no choice since you spent the money already. There's no refund once you're up in the air. Keep that in mind when going out to skydiving. It will convince you to get off that plane.

2 On The Verge Of Crying

Grab the toughest person in the room right now and take him/her out to skydive and it's guaranteed he/she will cry like a baby. Fun fact: the higher you are, the more difficult breathing is since the plane is unpressurized so be sure to calm your nerves down before the flight or you're going to have a massive panic attack.

What does he think that straw hat is going to do? Shield him? Once you're out in the open, all you can do is pray or wet yourself. The average free fall takes about a minute. The longest, most thrilling minute you'll ever experience and it's going to change you mentally.
