TripAdvisor has spoken when it comes to the best cities in the world for food and two US cities have made the elite cut.

Traveling the world is now quicker and easier than it has ever been. If you lived 100 years ago then going abroad was something that not many were afforded the opportunity to do, now though the world is our oyster. Even the longest journeys take less than a day. It may sound like a lot but in all fairness, you are traveling to the other side of the planet so a day seems fair if you ask us.

Why do people love to travel though? What's out there that you can't get access to from the comfort of your own hometown? Seems like an obvious question and there are obviously quite a few answers. There are sights to see, people to visit and meet, and experiences to be had that you simply can't experience if you stay in one place for your entire life.

According to TripAdvisor, there is one reason that people travel for more than ever in the present day, for food. The travel site recently analyzed trends on its own website in order to find out where exactly people are traveling for food-specific experiences and compiled a top ten off the back of it. Unsurprisingly, Rome and Paris were both featured in the top three.

The obvious places aside, who else made the cut? Well, if you're reading this in the United States there are two cities in your very own home country that are featured in the top ten, New York and New Orleans. The latter is, of course, famous for its Cajun food and came in at an impressive number five in TripAdvisor's rundown. New York City followed close behind in sixth.

Overall, six of the top ten are in Europe, two in the States and the final two are in Asia. You can check out the whole list here as well as the best food experience in each of the top ten cities according to TripAdvisor. It's hard to argue with any of the places that made the cut, and if you're wondering where some other obvious ones are well TripAdvisor also featured a "destinations to watch" list of cities that may very well break into that top ten sometime in the future.
