There are some destinations that people just associate with, well, having a good time. And they say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas — but this doesn’t mean that you don’t still have to act like a decent human being. In fact, if you push the boundaries of normal, acceptable behavior a bit too far, you may even find yourself kicked out of a Las Vegas casino.

People may travel from all over the world to this Nevada destination to gamble, drink adult beverages all night and day, shop, and generally make choices that they might not normally in their daily lives… but there are certain things that just won’t be put up with.

Check out 20 things Las Vegas casino staff will simply not tolerate.

20 Underage Shenanigans

You have to be of legal age to hang in a casino — and to be a patron there, to be sure. Most especially if you are being obviously immature or rowdy, be prepared to be carded, questioned, and even asked to leave. Casinos can get in trouble for allowing minors to enter their doors, so if you’re not a grown-up, stay out.

19 Bringing Fido (Or Felines) Along For The Fun

According to Finance 101, you can’t even walk your dog along the strip at set times, and there are limits to the size of the animal allowed and the length of the leash (no longer than 3 feet!). Think of the crowds and the potential problems with leashes — or lack thereof — or pets that aren’t properly trained or even dangerous.

18 Fiddling With The Deck To Win

Card marking is seriously shady stuff, and it may involve a player somehow marring a card or perhaps even writing on it with invisible ink. Basically, it allows someone to tell which card they are dealing with without necessarily even seeing the face of the card. If this is attempted and the player is caught, there will be trouble, to be sure.

17 Overindulging In Adult Beverages To A Ridiculous Degree

Yes, it’s fairly commonly accepted that Las Vegas is a place where adult beverages are handed out for free as long as you are a patron of the casino. It’s a place of nightclubs. It’s a place where a lot of nighttime stuff tends to go down… but at all hours of the day. But if you are sloppy about it, it won’t be tolerated. You are still in public, after all!

16 Forgetting Your Manners

“Being unruly” will not be tolerated, as is covered by Finance101. They cite an Inquirer article about a certain NBA player being, well, told to leave a Las Vegas casino for just such behavior. Do you think it’s okay to throw your chips at the dealer, be super loud, and generally behave like a toddler on the casino floor? Think again.

15 Getting Around The Rules By Using Technology

Here’s the thing: Computers, especially those small ones many of us carry around in our pockets and purses at all hours of the day and night, can be used to take pictures and otherwise, well, not play fairly. They aren’t allowed at Vegas casino tables, in most cases, and Finance 101 says part of this logic may be that you’re less likely to check the time, then, too!

14 Staff Slacking On Their Dressing

The whole point of a uniform is to make all employees look very similar to one another, and of course also easily recognizable as members of the staff. Part of the design of these uniforms in Vegas, which are mandatory at casinos, is based on security. Pockets may not be included for good reason, and aprons may not be allowed to cover below the waist, reports Finance 101.

13 Using The Buddy System To Play Better At Poker

It may seem like the stuff of Hollywood movies, but poker players have actually attempted to team up to get around the rules and, well, win more moola at Las Vegas casinos. The thing is, this type of collusion is probably pretty easy for Casino staff to spot, and it would be pretty risky to try it.

12 Treating Waitresses Disrespectfully

Okay, so the uniforms worn by waitresses at Las Vegas casinos may just be a little, well, different than those worn at, say, your local diner. This does not at all mean that the women — or men — wearing them do not deserve to be treated in a courteous and respectful manner. If these basic boundaries are overstepped by patrons, there will be consequences.

11 Sliding Dice Rather Than Really Rolling

The idea of this one is to have the numbers up on the dice that you want to “roll,” but then, well, not actually roll them, therefore getting the outcome that you need to win the game. This little trick takes an experienced scammer, in all likelihood, but it’s also one that may be pretty easy for casino staff or security to spot.

10 Keeping Track Of Which Card Is Which Through Imperfections

As covered elsewhere in this article, no, you can’t alter the cards in any way to keep track of which one is which. You also can’t use your careful observations about existing imperfections on the cards in the deck to your advantage, as is reported by Finance 101.

9 Bringing In Bunk Coins

Believe it or not, scammers have gone as far as to make fake coins in order to get ahead in Las Vegas Casinos, particularly one Louis “The Coin” Colavecchio, who was found out for using fake tokens and coins, says Finance 101. He was found out, and the result was his arrest in the late 1990s.

8 Being Straight Up Sloppy While Sipping

Accidents happen. Just don’t be so out of it that you let them happen while you’re playing at the table of a Las Vegas casino, or you may be asked to, in so many words, get the heck out of there. Don’t spill your beverage on that beautiful green felt.

7 Substances And Stuff

This one would seem obvious, if you ask me, but apparently enough people get in trouble for using substances that, well, change the way their brains work. Even though some substances are now legal in Nevada and many other states, they're still not allowed inside Vegas Casinos.

6 Passing Out

Can’t even stay awake? Your eyes just won’t stay open? It’s probably time to head on home, in case that wasn’t already something that was clear to you. As covered by Finance 101, security guards commonly have to wake people up after they fall asleep right at slot machines. Yikes.

5 Not Making It To The Restroom When Nature Calls

Another thing can get you in trouble or asked to leave: soiling yourself in a Las Vegas casino. According to Finance 101, Allen Iverson was caught taking a leak on the floor of a casino. Just go use a bathroom, people, even if you’re really caught up in your game.

4 Sneaking A Peak — They Can Tell, Buddy

Some particularly experienced players may attempt to look at the dealer’s face-down cards to then make a better next move and win. Attempting to make more money in this way is called “hole card reading,” says Finance 101. Blackjack and other card games are sometimes targets of this sneaky scam.

3 Staffers Being In On Shuffling Scams

What won’t casinos tolerate? The staffers themselves being in on scams that make it unfair to some players or easier for others at the table. Dealers may collude with certain players by pretending to shuffle a deck of cards but not REALLY doing it, and that's a no-no.

2 Bringing In Your Own Booze — And Being Obvious About It

Walking in with an adult beverage in your hand will get you a “no way, Jose” in Las Vegas casinos. Also, did you know that in many cases, all you have to do to get a free one (or five) is sit down at a table or slot machine? Although you can walk around with an open container on the strip, on the casino floor, there are different rules.

1 Inappropriate Acts On The Floor

There may have been many beverages consumed, and little sleep, and decisions may be made that wouldn’t normally be made in regular old life. And yet, people must remember that they are still IN PUBLIC and not in the privacy of their own bedrooms, or, er, hotel rooms… If they don’t want to get kicked out.
