If a local resort plays its cards right, the city of Kent may have a lot more going for it than boasting the U.K.'s lushest gardens and proximity to the White Cliffs of Dover.

The London Resort recently unveiled plans to open a gigantic theme park valued at roughly $4.6 billion US and slated to open in 2024.

3 Big Enough To Fit 35 NFL Stadiums

The park, which will reportedly occupy 535 acres, enough to fit 35 clones of Houston's Bank of America Stadium, the NFL's largest sports venue. It's also being touted as the most modern of its kind, with as much high-tech wizardry as possible going into many of the attractions. The London Resort has already revealed that it will include rebuilt scenes from major flicks like The Godfather, The Italian Job and the Mission: Impossible franchise, especially those that feature plenty of explosions, car chase scene and other action segments.

While the project's top brass insist that the park will be called The London Resort, already the scuttlebutt is dubbing it "Britain's Disneyland." That said, no Disney money is going into the project. Instead, The London Resort is teaming up with the BBC, ITV Studios and Paramount Pictures for resources, including the technology going into the attractions.

2 Original & Innovative

The Brit development will be the first European theme park built from the ground up since since Disneyland Paris commenced operations in 1992. But unlike its French counterpart, this project will strive to be as original as possible, avoiding the temptation to duplicate attractions that franchise theme parks tend to install.

Organizers claim they plan to be as innovative as possible in order to make each attraction unique from their competition. They also want the project to be relevant with the times with enough flexibility to incorporate future trends. And in keeping with environmental demands, officials claim the park will also be self-sustaining.

1 Imagination Unleashed

Secret London

If the real thing matches the visuals already released, patrons are in for a real trip. Plans are to include an enchanted forest, a Medieval castle complete with sword-fighting, a mythical chain of islands where giant beasts reside, a jungle containing a long-lost ancient civilization and alien landing pad for extraterrestrial visitors. Completing the park will be water park, convention center and a plaza for shopping and dining.

"The world’s finest theme park engineers and designers will fuse with best of British and International brands to create a resort of global appeal, just 17 minutes from central London," read a London Resort statement. "The London Resort will be more than a resort. It will be imagination unleashed."
