On March 8th, 2014, an airplane carrying 239 passengers on a flight from Kuala Lumpur, destined for Beijing, vanished into thin air without so much as leaving a black box or victims behind.

After the disappearance, only fragments of the aircraft could be found, scattered in different areas of Asia and the Indian Ocean, making experts believe that the missing Malaysian MH370 most likely plummeted to the bottom of the sea.

Conspiracy and investigative theories have drawn many conclusions from other countries hijacking the airplane and hiding its shell to disturbingly being sucked into a deep black hole in the bottom of the ocean.

One theory concluded that Edward Snowden, the original whistle-blower into America’s cybersecurity and surveillance, must have been a key part of one of the greatest mysteries of all time, as the MH370 also carried 20 individuals working with the NSA.

So, what happened to Malaysia MH370?

20 Is America Involved?

Former Prime Minister of Malaysia speculated that the CIA was aware of what happened with Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777. According to an engineer, the plane was covered in bullets. He also accused the United States of refusing to help in the search for the missing plane and covering up information.

19 The Plane Was Hijacked 1 & 2

Technology has quickly advanced, including the ability to remotely control an airplane or ship in case of a threat. Unfortunately, it is possible that a specific individual or a secret agency could have taken over the flight from Captain Shah and brought it to a secret location.

18 We'd Like To Believe The Pilot Was A True Hero

There were reports of a fire onboard and experts believe that Captain Shah may have left his seat to reach for the cabin’s fire extinguisher, only to witness an extensive fire and a deadly fate. Experts believe the Captain plunged the aircraft into the Indian Ocean rather than crash land into a village.

17 Hopefully It Wasn't Because Of His Bathroom Urge

Aviation and investigative journalist, Christine Negroni, noted that had Captain Shah not needed a “biological break” and handed over the aircraft to his co-pilot, the MH370 would’ve never disappeared. It is believed that the co-pilot had planned and committed an unfortunate mission with his last words being, “Good night. Malaysian 370.”

16 Unfortunately, The Pilot May Have Taken His Own Life

There was another theory that the pilot may have sadly taken his own life. Friends and fellow pilots mentioned to aviation specialists that the Captain’s wife had recently left with his children after marital issues surfaced, and the captain had become depressed, so much so that he paced empty rooms.

15 Could The Russians Have Something To Do With It

There was speculation that the missing Malaysian MH370 was hijacked by Russia, says Vox, in an effort to deflect the world’s attention from the rising quarrel with Ukraine and, primarily, Crimea. In 2014, Pro-Russia rebels started invading Eastern Ukraine, leading to speculation about wartime casualties.

14 The Ghost Plane of Malaysia

No, the Boogeyman didn’t make the plane disappear. The term “ghost plane” is used when an event happens on board that incapacitates the entire crew. This is normally caused by uncontrolled decompression or something similar. The plane then flies on its own until it runs out of fuel and eventually crashes, somewhere.

13 The Plane Was Known As Faulty

Another plausible theory was that there were cracks in the plane. According to the Daily Mirror, the Federal Aviation Administration’s alert was not applicable to Malaysia MH370 as it did not have the same antenna as the cracked Boeing 777s. But one airline proved there was a 15-inch break in their plane’s fuselage.

12 Asia's Bermuda Triangle

Every headline has a conspiracy theory surrounding the Bermuda Triangle. Apparently, in the 1940s, there was a slew of boats, planes, and Torpedos that went missing. One local suggested that the vanishing point of the Malaysia MH370 was on the exact opposite side of the world as the Bermuda Triangle in the Caribbean.

11 Maybe The Pilot Just Wanted To Be Known As The Greatest Mystery Of All Time

Tony Abbott, the former prime minister of Australia also considered the possibility of a specific plot involving the Captain, however, there was no evidence to corroborate this theory. Unfortunately, an investigative journalist believes the fragments of Malaysia MH370 prove this was a deliberate act by the pilot.

10 Is Debt A Reason For This Unsolved Enigma

Police and investigators pursued the theory that someone onboard, cabin crew or passengers, could have taken out a large sum of insurance money so that their family could benefit from it. It was also believed that someone needed a large sum of money to pay off an even larger debt.

9 Edward Snowden's Name Started To Circle Around... Again

The name Edward Snowden began circulating conspiracy theorists and the dark web- again. There seemed to be a connection between Edward Snowden’s compelling revelations and the missing plane. According to a Reddit user, the plane was carrying 20 employees from an NSA company and China wanted a piece of it.

8 A Pattern Of Missing Airplanes

Eight hundred and four days after the missing Malaysian MH370 plane vanished into thin air, another aircraft did the exact same, EgyptAir MS804. Many conspiracy theorists quickly made the connection between the airline number and number of days. Luckily, 370 days after Malaysia Flight MH370 went missing, there were no missing planes reported.

7 It's Simple - It Was Sucked Into A Black Hole

CNN reporter Don Lemon brought up the theory that the aircraft may have disappeared into an undiscovered and unrealistic black hole in the middle of the Indian Ocean. However, former inspector general of the United States Department of Transportation, Mary Shiavo, was quick to decline that possible theory.

6 It's Not In The Ocean According To Phone Calls

Relatives were left baffled as they attempted to call their missing loved ones. Interestingly, the victims’ phones were still ringing as families called for up to four days after the plane initially went missing. Unfortunately, wireless analysts announced that this happens when networks try to connect the call, regardless of the circumstances.

5 The Plane Was Redirected To Kazakhstan

Locals in Cambodia reported seeing an airplane crash land into the jungle. To back this claim, an investigator used satellite images to prove there was an object similar in size to the missing Boeing 777. Unfortunately, a rescue team decided this part of the jungle was too risky to enter.

4 N. Korea Always Comes Up

Quickly after the Malaysia MH370 disappeared, the North Korean theories appeared. Three days before MH370 vanished, South Korea accused North Korea of attempting to firing a missile at a Chinese plane that carried 239 passengers. Another theory accused the North Korean leader of being involved in all kinds of other bad stuff.

3 It Was Probably Abducted By UFOs

E.T made his way to a conspiracy theory. According to bloggers, there had been a record number of UFO sightings in the area around the time the plane went missing. Even more surprising, an astonishing 5% of Americans that were surveyed believe that the Malaysian plane was abducted by UFOs.

2 Were Batteries And Fruit The Cause Of A Combust In The Cabin Below?

Another report suggested that possible environmental combustion occurred in the deck below by a mixture of lithium batteries and fruit. According to Business Insider, the missing airplane had 5 tons of mangosteens and 221 kg of batteries, causing a fire on the aircraft and combustion over the Indian Ocean.

1 Did The Pilot Parachute Out To Meet His Lover?

The Romeo & Juliette theory, however, may have been a tragic one for hundreds of people. According to the Daily Express, Captain Zaharie Shah wanted to separate from his wife but feared repercussions from his religion. Instead, he parachuted 3000ft out of the airplane to meet his secret lover.
