Patong Beach is located on Phuket, the largest Thai island and Patong is the longest and most popular beach on this island getaway. This beach has white sand and wide coasts and the water on this beach is usually warm and comfortable.

There are also numerous shopping complexes in the vicinity of the beach as well as popular hotels and high-end restaurants. Rest assured if you get bored of the beach it does not mean you will have to stay bored. Patong Beach is also not suited for those looking for a serene vacation as it is full of constant adventure.

9 Railay Beach

Railay Beach is located on the mainland of Thailand but is only accessible by boat. This beach has an isolated island feeling and is the stark opposite of Patong Beach. While Patong is full of adventure and parties at night, Railay Beach is virtually unknown and tiny and is usually a serene and quiet place. One of the best things to do at Railay Beach is to rock climb and it is frequently referred to as a rock climbers heaven. Tourists can take lessons in climbing and belaying, and there are a number of other activities to keep you busy.

8 Long Beach

Next up is Long Beach, which is located on the island of Koh Lanta. Koh Lanta is situated near Phuket, and Long beach offers a perfect mix of Railay Beach and Patong Beach, not too quiet and not too loud. Long Beach's name is very indicative of the beach itself, which is that it is one of the largest and widest beaches in all of Thailand. This beach is also one of the only ones of Koh Lanta to be free of hazards such as sea urchins and unpleasant weather. Long Beach also hosts social nights and fun nighttime parties.

7 Hua Hin Beach

Next is the Hua Hin Beach situated in Hua Hin, Thailand. Hua Hin is one of the nicest beaches in Thailand and the best tourist beach closest to Bangkok. Hua Hin used to once be a popular attraction for backpackers due to its cheap accommodations and incredible party scene, but it has turned itself into a family-friendly location that attracts many international travelers due to its cheap prices. Hua Hin is a great place for families with kids because the waters are gentle and the shores slide right into the water. Hua Hin is also a spa and wellness scene.

6 Kata Beach

Next up is another beach on the island of Phuket, Kata Beach. Kata Beach is a couple of miles away from Patong Beach and offers a more serene and peaceful alternative to Patong.

Kata Beach has many of the same features offered at Patong such as palm trees and sandy beaches along with warm water, but unlike Patong, Kata Beach and its surrounding area are not as developed. This means there is less infrastructure around Kata and as a result, there is usually no crowd. Kata Beach is also perfect for snorkeling and gear can be rented or bought in nearby shops.

5 Lamai Beach

Lamai Beach is located in Koh Samui and is one of the most popular beaches in Thailand due to its short distance away from Bangkok. Lamai Beach features beautiful scenery as the turquoise waters form a beautiful contrast against the golden sands of the beach. Lamai Beach is undoubtedly one of the most scenic and picturesque beaches in Thailand but offers more to tourists than just great pictures. Near Lamai Beach is Wat Khunaram Temple, where a monk's body is mummified and displayed as per his request. Tourists can also rent a motorcycle to explore the entire island of Koh Samui.

4 Sairee Beach

Once upon a time, Sairee Beach was described by every guidebook out there as the perfect diving destination. This beach was very underrated and was constantly referred to as a site for divers with cheap accommodations, food and entertainment between dives, but today, most people have realized this tiny beach has far more to offer. Sairee Beach features a one-mile stretch of sand and overlooks tiny islands on the horizon, and caters to young tourists due to its nightly pub crawls and wild parties. The only way to get to Sairee is by ferry, which keeps away some of the crowds.

3 White Sand Beach

White Sand Beach is another beautiful beach in Thailand and was once a popular backpacker destination like many other beaches on this list. As the name suggests, White Sand Beach features fine, soft white sand, and the beach is a beautiful site considering the foliage surrounding it. The west side of White Sand Beach especially features beautiful foliage such as palm trees and coconut trees as well as rolling hills and bamboo stalks. These offer tourists a cheap trip with the feeling of luxury. This beach is perfect for travelers on a budget wanting a luxurious feel. White Sand Beach is a picture postcard you can enter and stay awhile.

2 Sunrise Beach

Sunrise Beach is located on the island of Ko Pha Ngan in the small town of Haad Rin which has a reputation for having a lively nightlife industry and incredible full moon parties. On the east side of town is Sunrise Beach that hosts an all-night party once a month which starts one night and goes until noon the next day. These parties are not kid-friendly as they feature a lot of drinking, dancing, and adult-themed activities, so get a babysitter and take the night for yourself and significant other. During the other times of the month, however, this beach is surprisingly quiet and is a perfect place for families with kids.

1 Ao Nang Beach

Last on this list is Ao Nang. Ao Nang is not pleasant to visit during the high season as it is incredibly crowded and very narrow, but when the crowd clears, what is left is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Ao Nang is located in Krabi, a place known for its limestone formations. Ao Nang is easily accessible from town and because there is no need for a boat to get to this getaway, the crowds keep rolling. On the beach, there are plenty of small shops, but no major developments have popped up in town.
