Although Alcatraz may be a now-defunct prison off the coast of San Francisco, that didn't stop a restaurant in Tokyo, Japan from adopting its theme: a combination between Alcatraz and a spooky hospital.

Guests are handcuffed and lead to the cell where their table is located,. before being served in scientific equipment. They're entertained all night while they eat by various different spooky shows. The prison atmosphere really adds to how unusual the experience is.

7 Kura Revolving Sushi Bar

A sushi restaurant where the sushi travels past the customers on a conveyor belt and allows them to pull a plate off whenever they see something they like really isn't that strange. These exist all over Japan, the US, and other countries. But Kura Revolving Sushi Bar, a restaurant with locations around the US, puts a fun twist on this trend!

After a guest finishes a certain number of plates, a capsule toy drops from the machine above the order screen at their table and gives them an adorable little toy. How cute is that?

6 Heart Attack Grill

If you're into the most extreme, over-the-top burgers around, then Heart Attack Grill in Las Vegas is the for you. This restaurant is known for the fact that the entire thing is themed around hospitals. the staff is made up of waitresses dressed as nurses, diners wear hospital gowns after they're seated, and the burgers have names like the Quadruple Bypass Burger.

The Heart Attack Grill is definitely not the place to be for anyone that's trying to watch what they eat or enjoy a healthy meal, but if you're someone that seriously loves burgers and doesn't mind the grease, this novelty restaurant is a must-visit.

5 Hospitalis

Hospitalis is a restaurant located in Latvia that is completely centered around a hospital motif with a really strange, creepy twist. Everything is served with surgical and scientific equipment and the waitresses are all dressed as nurses with the exact same bright orange wig on.

If a visitor orders a certain item from the menu, the waitress will strap them into their seat and feed them with a spoon while they sit, completely helpless. If you're into a truly unique dining experience, this medical-themed restaurant could be just what the doctor ordered.

3 Haohai Robot Restaurant

No matter how unique a restaurant is, they almost all have one thing in common: the fact that there are waitresses and waiters that serve the people dining there. But in China, there's a restaurant that is a little bit unusual in this regard.

At Haohai Robot Restaurant, all the servers are robots that travel along tracks through the restaurant to deliver the food to the customers. Ordering involves tapping on a screen installed on a certain robot and then another robot will bring it out on a tray. Pretty cool!
