Only 5 percent of the ocean has been discovered which leaves 95 percent of blank pages and head-scratching. The real question is, what lies in the deep? Will there ever be an answer?

Today, marine biologists and researchers are working hand in hand mapping out the seas, to at least clear some of the fog. During their quests, countless artifacts and strange locations have been uncovered and they just seem to raise more questions than answers.

Take, for example, the lost city of Atlantis. Expeditions have been put out only to end in failure. Or the Yonaguni Monument, whose true origins have been swept under the rug by the government for decades.

For this list, we will dive into the blue to bring some sense into these mysteries. Join us as we count down 15 photos of strange underwater finds with no logical explanation.

15 Bimini Road: Highway To The Lost City Of Atlantis?

Located in the Bahamas, Bimini Road is an underwater rock formation which many believe is the path to the lost city. The perfectly-cut limestone paths and its location strengthen the hypothesis that a complex civilization once existed in this part of the world. It's just "the tip of the iceberg," scientists remarked.

14 Lake Huron: Hunting Ground Twice As Old As The Stonehenge

A 9,000-year-old caribou hunting ground has just been uncovered beneath the Great Lakes. This prehistoric route, called Drop 45 Drive Lane, runs from Michigan to Ontario and is now submerged under 121 feet of water. It remains as one of the most complex archaeological sites in America, complete with meat caches and hunting blinds, probably operated by a family of hunters.

13 Frilled Shark: Prehistoric Living Fossil

One of the few moments where a rare prehistoric shark is seen alive. Nothing much is known about them apart from the fact that they look like sea serpents and their teeth are razor-sharp, there are instances where scientists cut themselves when examining the said shark. They are believed to have survived the KT event where 80 percent of the population was wiped out, says Britannica.

12 Atlit Yam: Lost Village (Weird Ritual Structure)

Atlit Yam gives a glimpse into the stone age way of life (about 6900 BC). Ever since it has been discovered in 1984, more intriguing structures have popped up such as this well, some sort of ritualistic underwater altar which was previously a freshwater spring.

11 Baltic Sea Anomaly: UFO Ruins

This object, measuring 210 feet across in the ocean floor, is thought to have been the remains of a crashed alien spacecraft, or a neolithic structure (realistically). A group of divers was sent to investigate, only to find that their devices no longer functioned when they were meters from the site.

10 Yonaguni Monument: Natural Or Man-Made?

This huge underwater pyramid was found off the coast of Ryuku Islands in Japan. What makes this mysterious is that neither the government nor the national tourism body recognize this as a natural heritage even though it is perfectly constructed. Is this a prank by mother nature? We will never know.

9 Winslow Junction: Train Graveyard (How Did They Get There?)

In one part of New Jersey, under 90 feet of water, there exists a locomotive's resting place. These class 2-2-2 models, which were very rare, are traced back to the 1850s. However, no historical data is known to exist about these engines or how they sunk in these parts. One theory is that they might have been pushed off the rails during a violent storm.

8 The River Beneath The Black Sea

The river on the image, is the first of its kind. The theory is that these are sediments running across the current. What's even crazier is that there are trees and rocks beside the river. If there was no diver caught on the photo above, one would have thought this was a legit river in some haunted forest.

7 Purple Blob Creature Found In Pacific Floor

In 2016, marine biologists were shocked to discover a purple blob in the Pacific Ocean. After some probing, they finally vacuumed the little slime and decided to run some tests. They found out that it was some sort of new slug species that also releases toxic chemicals. According to Nat Geo, investigations are still ongoing.

6 Underwater Ice Tornado Kills Everything In Its Path (Extremely Rare Occurrence)

Also called Brinicles, these ice spouts are death sentences for marine life in colder regions. It happens when there's a big difference between sea and air temperature therefore freezing into new ice and as the ice becomes thicker and the tornado gets larger, any marine animal that comes in contact with it spins around and freezes to death.

5 Mysterious Floating Crater: Ancient Burial Grounds?

Up to this day, nobody knows how this little crater spawned in Piute County, Utah. It was discovered by a farmer and has since attracted some attention. Bryce Dalton was draining his pond when he came across this 25-foot wide alien-like mound. Theories have been drawn but none of them are plausible enough. "I guess that's Martian Art," Bryce said.

4 Mythical City Finally Found: Dwarka

Dwarka is supposedly a holy battleground where a god, Krishna and an evil king, Salva, had a stand-off. They used high-energy weapons from orbit (seriously, check it out) until the city fell apart. People say that Dwarka had 900,000 palaces made of emerald. The whole city dates back some 9,000 years ago and was a major port. Expeditions are ongoing to verify the accuracy of these stories.

3 Why Were 6,000 Shipwrecks Found In Lake Michigan?

Beneath the Great Lakes, it is estimated that thousands of ships have met their doom some centuries ago and only a small fraction has been identified, says Daily Mail. Theories posit that some 30,000 sailors have lost their lives in the lake. Like the museum says, "shipwrecks are time capsules" and it is up to us to unearth them.

2 And How Did This Stonehenge End Up In The Same Lake?

About 40 feet underneath Grand Traverse bay, also in the Great Lakes area, researchers have discovered stone structures with cave-like markings of a Mastodon. If proven true, the entire structure could be 10,000 years old. Basically, new evidence of life during the ice age.

Corinth, a city which was described in the New Testament as a port of call and one wherein the apostle Paul himself spread the word of Christ, might have been discovered by scientists. Unearthed, were ruins of massive monuments and even a lighthouse. It is believed to have been destroyed during an earthquake in 70 AD.
