Sliceable sauces: A thing of the future or something that many people are uninterested in? There are pros and cons to this new concept which, in reality, is not actually new. The Kickstarter for the concept of sliceable sauces was started back in 2018 and was appropriately named 'Slice of Sauce.' Described as a "no mess 'slice' of ketchup" which is intended to be more convenient and far more kind to the shirts and pants of foodies who happen to like their burgers, sandwiches, and the like, filled with condiments. The company, Bo's Fine Foods, responsible for the condiment slices has now taken a turn for the big leagues with the attention of one baseball legend, Alex Rodriguez.

In a recent episode of Shark Tank, the baseball star pledged $200,000 for the slices, investing more money in the company than the original Kickstarter was even intended to raise. With the investment came the promise of a new, unheard of type of condiment slice: Hot sauce slices. And not just any hot sauce slices, either - hot sauce slices that bear name-brands such as Frank's RedHot. Since then, the company has garnered far more attention and has heads turning at the thought of layering some spicy slices in between their favorite sandwiches.

A Full-Blown Operation

It's interesting what catches people's attention; while Bo's Original gained some attention with its ketchup slices, the addition of hot sauce has completely revolutionized - and regenerated - an interest. Frank's RedHot is a beloved hot sauce and the first choice of many seeking to spice up their food life, so it's not all that surprising that when offered the same product in slice form, fans jumped at the chance to try it. The pros to this are probably quite obvious: Not only is this a way for people to enjoy a mess-free sandwich, burger, sub, and whatever else they can think of to layer this solidified sauce. Furthermore, the portions are well-thought-out, with each slice containing the same, if not more, hot sauce that a heavy-hand shake would do you. Lastly, the sauce can be cut into smaller pieces for further versatility. For example, if you were making sliders and only needed a fourth or a half a slice. Or if you were eating cheese and crackers, and wanted a hit of spiciness on top of it all. The options are truly endless.

Slice of Sauce is now taking pre-orders for its brilliant creation, which seems to be going over fairly well. As of right now, the flavors for Frank's RedHot include Frank's RedHot Original Cayenne and Secret Aardvark Habenero Hot Sauce. If you're interested in grabbing one (or several) they're going for a good price of $5.99 in packs of eight slices, making each slicer just under a dollar each. Additionally, Slice of Sauce's ketchup slices are still available along with a Sriracha option, but Frank's RedHot is the only official company collaboration that the Kickstarter is working with right now (but still, it's nice to have other options).

Some Facts About The Product

You might be wondering, how long do these slices last? Is refrigeration an issue? Will they eventually be available in grocery stores? Slice of Sauce has answered all of this and more. For starters, the product will last for up to one year when stored in the pantry. So no - not only is refrigeration an issue (most condiments must be kept cold) but they can be stored anywhere at room temperature without an issue. As for appearing in stores, it's the hope of Slice of Sauce that yes, eventually these sauce slices will be lining the shelves of your local supermarket. As of right now, there's no definite date for when Slice of Sauce's preorders will be shipping out but the company has reassured fans that they will be out as soon as possible, and production is moving along swimmingly.

In terms of the nutrition facts regarding Slice of Sauce, their products are gluten-free and vegan, meaning they appeal to all - if not every - food lifestyle, making them even more appealing to a wide array of people. This alternative to liquid condiments might seem a little bit space-age and too modern until you realize that you can eat a turkey sandwich loaded with hot sauce without dripping sauce all over the table in front of your co-workers. As of right now, the sauce slices are only being sold online but for less than one dollar per spicy (or ketchup-y, or Sriracha-y) slice, this is a tough deal to beat when it comes to less mess for the same, if not better, flavor spice fans know and love
