Rome, Italy is the most popular travel destination for American travelers, according to a recently released report from AAA.
The survey outlines that one out of four Americans are arranging international trips "over the next 18 months." The data, which is "based on AAA Travel bookings," revealed the top 10 international cities in which Americans are planning trips for.
Cancun, Mexico was second on the list right behind Rome. London was third on AAA's rankings, followed by, Dublin, Paris, Montego Bay, Punta Cana, Vancouver (British Columbia), Munich and Barcelona.
A recent study from WalletHub showed two out of three Americans have travel plans for the winter. It's easy to understand why hot cities like Cancun, Montego Bay and Punta Cana are among the most booked international cities by Americans.
After all, many travelers like to get away during the cold winter season.
The city of Rome offers a unique history with a giant amount of tourist attractions. This obviously includes the historic Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, St. Peter's Basilica, Sistine Chapel and the Vatican.
The city is also known for its rich foods, culture and art. It's a tourist-friendly city that offers. Simply put, Rome offers everything a tourist wants and needs.

Rome didn't appear on GlobalData's list of top 10 most visited cities by international visitors for the year 2018. Greater London and Greater Paris- which appeared on AAA's list - made the top 10 in GlobalData's report.
International Living recently detailed cheap flights to the major cities that made the top 10 in AAA's report. This includes flights from Boston to Dublin for $450, New York to London for $367 and Los Angeles to Paris for $430.
Flights for Oct. 2019 mark the lowest average price in six years, and travelers have to take advantage of this opportunity while it's there. And with the American Thanksgiving holiday coming up, travelers in the United States need to keep their eyes open for some excellent flight deals. It's all about timing right now.
