For many Disney fans, the best part of going to the parks is being able to meet their favorite characters! Disney works hard to cast people that can really bring the characters from their movies to life and it's always fun for Disney visitors to meet their favorite characters, talk to them, and get a picture with them.
Different Disney parks around the world mostly have the same characters that appear there but there are some characters that exclusively appear at only certain parks or only appear during certain special events, making these characters incredibly rare.
To see 10 of the rarest characters at the Disney parks, keep reading!
Quasimodo is the main character of the 1996 Disney film The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Unfortunately for major fans of this character, Quasimodo is almost impossible to meet at any of the parks.
Quasimodo was retired from almost all the Disney parks except Disneyland Paris where he's still an exceptionally rare character. When Disney does bring him out, he usually appears with Esmeralda. Fortunately for fans of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Esmeralda is one character that appears slightly more frequently at Walt Disney World, Disneyland Paris, and Tokyo Disneyland.
Maleficent is a Disney villain and as such, she's a pretty rare character. When it comes to the Disney parks, the characters that are out on a nearly daily basis are typically the Disney Princesses and other more friendly characters. But if you're looking forward to a spooky experience, it is possible to meet some of the Disney villains.
During the Halloween season, Maleficent is one of the characters that is brought out at the parks and appears a lot more frequently. She's seen at multiple parks including Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris during Halloween. Meanwhile, her Sleeping Beauty counterpart, Aurora, is a pretty common character.
8 Wendy Darling
Wendy Darling is one of the central characters from Peter Pan and a favorite character of many Disney lovers that just don't want to grow up. Unfortunately, depending on the park that you visit, Wendy Darling can be a relatively rare character to meet.
She doesn't often come out at Walt Disney World anymore, save for special occasions like holiday parties. She can sometimes be seen at Fantasyland in Disneyland but is a pretty rare character there, too. So, if someone wants to meet Wendy Darling, they'll need to go to Disneyland Paris where she's regularly seen in Adventureland or Tokyo Disneyland where Wendy can often be spotted near Haunted Mansion in Fantasyland.
7 Jack And Sally
Jack Skellington and Sally Stitches are two citizens of Halloweentown in The Nightmare Before Christmas. Even though these two lovebirds are popular characters, they're also pretty rare and are only really out during special occasions.
Jack is found during Halloween season in different parts of Walt Disney World, Disneyland Paris, Disneyland, and Hong Kong Disneyland. Sometimes, he can even be found during Christmas wearing his Sandy Claws costume. Sally Stitches typically appears only during the Halloween season at Walt Disney World and Disneyland. In the past, she's also been out at Hong Kong Disneyland, but she seems to have been retired there.
Meeko is the raccoon sidekick to Pocahontas and is a totally adorable little animal that stole all of our hearts in Pocahontas. Although Pocahontas is a pretty common character to meet at Walt Disney World, Meeko can be a little trickier.
He's not out often, but if a guest really wants to make their chances of meeting him better, they should check out the Storyteller's character dining at Grand Floridian in Walt Disney World. He's also been spotted at Critter Country in Tokyo Disneyland, but seeing him at either of these parks is rare.
5 Cruella De Vil
Although most of the Disney villains are only found during special occasions like Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmatians is a relatively more common character. She's not only out during special occasions, but the fact that she mostly appears in one location of one park makes her somewhat on the rare side.
Cruella De Vil is often out on Main Street USA in Disneyland where she's happy to meet her adoring fans. Unfortunately for visitors of the other Disney parks, she's a little bit more rare of a sighting. While other characters are common at all the parks, Cruella is mostly found at a single park.
Unfortunately for fans of Aladdin, Jafar is an incredibly rare character at parks all over the world. While Aladdin and Jasmine are out super regularly for visitors to meet, Jafar is much more of a rare character.
As far as meeting him in the US goes, a visitor's best bet is to visit Walt Disney World during the Halloween season when they bring out several of the more rare villains but even then, he's slightly more uncommon. He can also be found year-round at other parks like Disneyland Paris and Tokyo DisneySea.
3 Prince Eric
Even though the princes are always totally swoon-worthy in Disney movies, they're not always the most common characters to come out and meet in the Disney parks. While Ariel is really commonly found in different parts of the different Disney parks, meeting Prince Eric can be slightly more on the tricky side.
At Walt Disney World, a visitor's best hope for meeting Prince Eric is going to Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast. But Prince Eric's most common place to be hanging out isn't actually in any of the US parks - it's at Tokyo DisneySea where Eric is almost always hanging out in Mermaid Lagoon.
2 Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear
Even though Lots-o'-Huggin' Bear may look like a super friendly, cuddly bear, anyone who has seen Toy Story 3 will know that there's much more to Lots-o'-Huggin' Bear than meets the eye. Luckily, meeting Lots-o'-Huggin' Bear in the parks isn't as scary as he is in the movie.
Unfortunately, there's only one place to meet Lots-o'-Huggin' Bear. The only place and time that he meets characters is during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.
1 Tarzan And Jane
Tarzan is the main character of the Disney movie of the same name. In the movie, he was raised in the jungle by a group of gorillas after the ship that he was on with his parents crashed and left him stranded there as a baby. Jane is a researcher who travels with her father to this jungle where she ends up meeting and falling for Tarzan.
Although this movie is definitely a Disney classic and a favorite of many people, meeting these characters is no easy feat. For the most part, the only time and place for Disney visitors to meet Jane and Tarzan is by going to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party during the fall season at Walt Disney World.
