Queen's Guard At Windsor Castle Filmed Pushing A Tourist Who Stepped Out Of Line

A member of the Queen’s Guard was filmed pushing an ignorant tourist while patrolling one of the royal residences.

Everyone knows the Queen’s Guard even if you don’t specifically recall the name. They’re the silent guards that stand in front of the royal residences, including Buckingham Palace, stoically staring at nothing and not moving for hours on end. They wear iconic red suits and ludicrously tall bearskin hats, although we’re hoping they don’t use bears anymore. It’s the 21st century, after all.

Their stoicism in the face of annoying tourists is legendary. In decades past it was thought that the Queen’s Guard must remain unphased by any stimulus, whether it be from a person who thinks they can pester a service member without consequence or not.

But that was then. Today’s Queen’s Guard don’t take no guff from nobody. Case in point, this particular tourist getting shoved out of the way while a Queen’s Guard was on patrol.

In a video posted to LiveLeak, a Chinese woman can be seen on the wrong side of a roped barrier staring directing at the camera--and directly in the way of an approaching Queen’s Guard. It's obvious she was trying to film the Queen’s Guard’s reaction, whether out of curiosity or to create a deliberate standoff.

The Queen’s Guard was having none of it. Rather than go around, he shoved her so hard she nearly fell flat on her face. She lets out a scream as he shoves her several feet forward and almost certainly would have fallen had she not grabbed another tourist’s arm to balance herself.

It didn’t even break the Queen’s Guard’s stride as he continued marching forward in that weird style that they have.

Speaking to The Sun, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence issued a warning statement for tourists. "The Household Division is proud to guard Her Majesty and honored that people come from around the world to watch our ceremonial spectacle. The ropes are there to protect both the public and our soldiers; please stay behind them.”

This is hardly the first time a tourist has pestered a member of the Queen’s Guard. Just last year, a tourist threw her glove at a guard standing at attention. She didn’t get away with it, as Beefeater caught her in the act and gave her a proper scolding.
