Your opinion is yours, and no matter what anyone else does or says, they can't change that. If you have your heart set on a certain way of thinking, then you're off to the races. Of course, people are always going to try and turn your head one way or another - and that's exactly what we're expecting here as we run down 25 locations that we personally don't think are worth your time.

Sure, they have fun aspects to them and they can be enjoyed in certain environments, but that's about it. They're all exceedingly popular so one article isn't going to change whether or not people go there, but even so, we felt the need to voice our opinion because it's hard to get a good grasp on what a place is going to be like purely from pictures.

So with some of these images representing their true worth and some representing the reality behind the destination, we thought that this was a pretty good mix. Again, it's all about your own personal taste so there's a very good chance you're going to disagree, but that's what travelling is all about: finding out your likes and dislikes.

Maybe these are the kind of locations that need more than one visit in order to form a proper opinion, but as is the case with many things in life, first impressions are unbelievably important.

So prepare yourselves, because some of you are about to be very, very annoyed. Should be fun.

25 Cairo - Not Worth It

Egypt, as a country, is considered to be a fascinating place. Just saying the name causes quite the reaction among travellers, mainly because they’re so intrigued by the many possibilities of what a place like that could hold.

Cairo, in particular, is popular for being one of their primary cities – with the Pyramids of Giza being just down the road. Unfortunately, in our book, Cairo doesn’t really live up to the billing in any specific field and it actually feels pretty dangerous.

There’s a sense of the unknown that we just can’t really come to terms with, and for that reason, it’s not for us.

24 Mount Rushmore - Very Small

Mount Rushmore is the kind of tourist destination that is much better off being viewed on the internet as opposed to in person. It doesn’t really change your experience in any way, shape or form, and let’s face it, you’d be saving on the travel fare.

The actual location is really small, and it’s just kind of ‘there’ in a lot of ways. We aren’t saying it isn’t an important piece of history because it absolutely is – we’re just saying that if you’re stuck for ideas on where to go, there are plenty of better alternatives. It’s just the truth!

23 Bondi Beach - Way Too Cramped

Bondi Beach is a pretty popular destination Down Under, with it being one of the most visited destinations in the entire country. The biggest problem we have in that regard, though, is that it’s just too cramped.

You can never get any space to yourself and even when you do, you have to worry about everyone else around you as opposed to focusing on having a good time. The littering issue is still a big problem, too, and it doesn’t seem like there’s any real ‘enthusiasm’ behind trying to fix it.

That whole region is very ‘skippable’ in our mind.

22 Four Corners - What’s The Point?

We actually think the idea behind this is pretty cool, but the execution is not. Like many of the other entries on this list, the Four Corners Monument just kind of exists – and it doesn’t really take that next step towards making you feel like it’s worth your time.

It should be much more of a spectacle, because let’s face it, it’s pretty monumental. There are very few places on the planet that can claim to have four states meeting at one specific point, and yet nobody gets all too excited about it.

You could argue that’s because the states themselves are unremarkable, but we would emphatically disagree with that statement.

21 Hollywood Walk of Fame - Stars? Really?

You can kind of grasp how people feel about those in the public eye, especially celebrities, by the reaction of people walking down the Walk of Fame in Los Angeles. A handful of people stop in order to take pictures but for the most part, it’s not a tourist spot that is overly popular anymore.

It seems as if people have become numb to the idea of these celebrities being, well, celebrated, even more so than they already are. We understand that they’re popular and we understand that they deserve praise for getting to where they are today, but we’ve always thought the Walk of Fame was a step too far.

20 Brazil - Dramatically Overrated

They talk about the party and they talk about the fiesta – but how about we talk about the massive divide in the country, the poverty and the sketchy activity? These are the topics people want to avoid, and they’re also the topics that are staring you right in the face upon landing in the country.

There are elements of the nation that represent the colour and spirit of the people, but for the most part, that’s kind of gone now. It’s been replaced by a very different type of vibe, and it’s not the type of vibe that you’d want to be a part of.

That doesn’t go for just Rio, either, it applies to the whole country.

19 Niagara Falls - Not For Us

If you got to Niagara Falls, you’ve seen everything that you need to see within the first five minutes. That sounds incredibly cynical but it’s true, and we don’t really understand why there’s such a fascination with it. Sure, if you look at it from an aerial view then it’s pretty cool, but not everyone is going to be flying over in a helicopter.

Personally, we feel like there are better things for you to do with your time in the surrounding areas, and we aren’t just saying that for the sake of it. It’s okay, but it’s not exactly great.

18 Miami - Orlando Is Better

Miami is supposed to be a party hub, but the above image represents the problem with the city: it’s a false narrative. Sure it’s an okay place to visit but there are no real landmarks or things to do beyond the beach, the people are all really self-centred, and it’s a poor representation of the state of Florida.

At the risk of being ridiculed, we honestly believe that Orlando is a more ‘fun for all the family’ kind of experience. You’ve got the great weather, International Drive, Universal Studios, Disneyworld – and so much more.

No, we aren’t being employed by Visit Orlando.

17 Abbey Road - Painfully Overrated

It’s just a road.

If you’re fascinated with The Beatles or you’re genuinely just a massive fan of their music, then we can kind of understand why you’d want to go here. Alas, while we understand the album cover is iconic, it’s just not our cup of tea.

If you go to England and this is one of the first places that comes to mind for you to visit, then, unfortunately, we feel like you need to read a tourism book or two (or just generally ask people in the know).

It’s just a little bit overrated, in our view.

16 Australian Outback - Very Risky

The Australian Outback is an appealing place to go for many people, especially those adrenaline junkies out there – you know who you are. Unfortunately, the risk associated mean that we wouldn’t even come close to recommending that you go here.

The many dangerous animals and the astonishingly hot weather are one thing, but also, there’s just nothing for miles and miles and miles. If you were to experience some kind of issue, then there’s a really good chance that you could find yourself in a sticky situation with nobody to help.

These are the things you’ve got to consider, folks.

15 Berlin - Don’t Be Fooled

If you’ve ever been to Germany, then the odds are that you’ve either experienced Berlin or you’ve heard a lot about it. While a lot of folks see a city full of life and culture, we see a pretty intimidating city that is dramatically misrepresented in just about every single way.

The transport systems are diabolical, some of the people are (in our experience) very rude, and there are a lot of roads you don’t want to walk down on your own at night.

Tropical Islands is located just outside of Berlin – and we’d highly recommend going there for your entire stay and only popping into Berlin once or twice.

14 London Eye - Not Worth The Money

Too expensive and the queues are far too long.

In a nutshell, that kind of sums up our thoughts on the London Eye. Sure, it’s a fun way to see the city, but it takes so unbelievably long just to get up to the top and it costs an arm and a leg to do so. London is so vast that you should be busy getting around on foot or public transport, as opposed to being lazy and going down the London Eye route.

London is a great city and we aren’t trying to take away from that, but this is one of those tourist traps that we just hate to see in action.

13 Thailand - Don’t Bother ‘Finding Yourself’

We've heard everything that there is to hear about how you end up ‘finding yourself’ upon going to Thailand, most of the time on a gap year.

It’s almost as if everyone who has ever been made a judgement call to lie to the world about what it’s actually like when you’re over there. Yes, it’s cheap, but is it really worth enjoying that side of things when there are so many other parts to hate?

It’s not very clean, it’s far too busy, and just walking down the street provides its own set of risks and dangers. The beaches are fine, but the rest is not.

12 Colosseum - Avoid, Avoid, Avoid

Ah, the Colosseum.

See now this is the point in the piece where we start to feel like we’re repeating ourselves, because we’ve said it before and we’ll say it until we’re blue in the face: it just isn’t special anymore. There are too many people there on any given day, it’s in the middle of one of the most unremarkable cities in the world, and the Roman Forum is much nicer if you’re desperate to see a piece of history.

We understand wanting to take a trip into the past because that’s one of the fun parts about travelling, but it’s just not for us.

11 Milan - A Dull And One-sided Place

Great fashion. Everything else is horrible.

We’re sticking with Italy now and while it may seem like we're averse to the country, that isn’t the case at all. The countryside and the resorts are absolutely divine – but it’s just the majority of the major cities that we have an issue with.

The people of Milan don’t walk around with smiles on their faces and while it’s not hard to understand why, it’s also not a pleasant thing to experience.

When you’re on holiday, doing something you’ve always wanted to do, you want to be able to interact with people and feel like there’s a good energy around you.

10 Jamaica - Remove The Holiday Googles

You would’ve thought we wouldn’t have to even write down this entry, but the Cool Runnings effect, as well as their athletic success, often causes some to have ‘holiday goggles’ with Jamaica.

It’s a country with a series of problems and one of the biggest is that they’re so dishonest. They’ll advertise a dream holiday in which you can escape all of your troubles, when in reality, you’ll be going somewhere full of crime, poverty and misleading resorts.

There are many better options out there, especially if you happen to be looking for value for your money above anything else.

9 Loch Ness - It Doesn’t Exist, Guys

Spoiler alert: Buzz Killington is about to enter the building and ruin your day, guys, because the Loch Ness Monster isn’t real.

We understand that the mythology surrounding it all is going to cause people to flock to Loch Ness for many years to come, but they should save their time and money in our book. The country of Scotland has been spoilt with the Highlands and their magnificent cities such as Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Because of that, it boggles our mind to consider the idea of people choosing to go to Loch Ness above all else. Seriously, it’s just weird.

8 Leaning Tower Of Pisa - Great, It Leans

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is a remarkable structure with a remarkable backstory, but again, it’s not one of those landmarks that you feel you just have to go and see in person. It’s okay, but the same could be said of 5,000 other landmarks.

Italy is so beautiful and we always hate it when a landmark is situated in an uninspiring city, which is exactly what has happened here. Pisa, as a whole, really isn’t worth your time, but you’ll be made to think that it is by the tourism board. Please, don’t fall for it!

7 Athens - The Saddening Ruins

The ruins in Athens, unfortunately, tend to represent the city as a whole right now – from their financial struggles to their battered political relationships. All you’ll get upon visiting is a sensation of ‘eesh’, and we aren’t going to lie, it’s pretty depressing.

If you’re into that kind of thing then be our guest, but we won’t hesitate to suggest an alternative: Santorini. You’ll probably end up paying a similar price, if not a little bit more expensive, but you’ll get an experience that’ll last a lifetime. The same can kind of be said for Athens, but it won’t be a pleasant one.

6 Notre Dame - Queuing For Hours

Don’t bother.

Paris is big and beautiful contrary to what the media would have you believe, and there are a lot of things to discover upon visiting.

One particularly popular destination is Notre Dame, but to be perfectly honest, we aren’t big fans. The inside is beautiful but they’re really strict when it comes to what you can and can’t do or see, and beyond that, you’ll spend 95% of your time just trying to get in.

That’s no exaggeration, either, and there’s absolutely no organisation when it comes to how the queue forms. You can imagine the chaos, then.
