Come vacation time, there are two kinds of people: those who need a getaway to relax and find themselves, and those who want to party and stay busy. Luckily, the world is a large place with plenty of options for both kinds of people.

From the tropical vibes of Bali to the bustling clubs in Berlin, it's all about preferences. After all, local spa days are healing for the soul but it's time to get out of town and experience something new. Perhaps integrating oneself into a new culture is what they need to become whole again or maybe a spa town with outdoor tubs in the snowy mountains is what will get them through the winter.

From the US and Canada to the shores in England and the Maldives, let's take a look at 10 places to relax and disconnect (and 10 places that should be saved for another time).

19 Unhealthy: Las Vegas, Nevada, US

People say New York City is the city that never sleeps but have they been to Las Vegas? It's a playground for all walks of life. Tourists are constantly entertained by Las Vegas's shows, casinos, buffets, and beyond. Clubs and bars can be found everywhere and popular DJs have residences in Vegas so the party never stops. Vegas is a great choice for a bachelor or bachelorette party but not to unwind.

18 Relax: The Maldives

The Maldives is a small island in South Asia. It's well-known for its clear blue waters and white sand beaches. Posting up on a beach all day, playing in the calm waters sounds like a great personal day. There are also plenty of spiritual activities provided to connect people to the area and to themselves.

17 Unhealthy: Cancun, Mexico

Cancun is a gorgeous city in Mexico that definitely has its fair share of good eats and clean beaches but it's mostly known for its epic Spring Break parties and celebrations. There are tall hotels lined along the beaches, but it's typically crowded and loud depending on the month of travel, making Cancun more of a girls' trip than a relaxing getaway.

16 Relax: Seven Sisters, East Sussex coast, England

Most people think of London when they hear England but today we're focusing on Seven Sisters. Seven Sisters isn't a town but it's the name for the chalk cliffs overlooking the English Channel. Found in East Sussex, the rolling green hills are a vision hovering over the blue water. When traveling through London, take a pitstop here to soak up the sights.

15 Unhealthy: New York, New York, US

There's no doubt that New York City is one of the most popular and exciting cities in the world and while there is something for everyone here, there are other places in the world to visit when a mental-health week is needed. New York is jammed pack with people, temptations, long lines, busy streets... It can be a headache, which is not what a relaxed holiday should be.

14 Relax:  Nachi Falls, Japan

If there's one thing that screams tranquility and relaxation, it's a massive waterfall surrounded by a gorgeous forest. Just imagine this scene during a thunderstorm! Nachi Falls can be found inside the Nachi Primeval Forest that's not far from a Buddhist temple. The area is known to be one of the most relaxing spots in the country and is actually a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

13 Unhealthy: Ibiza, Spain

Ibiza has always been a party island but after "I Took A Pill In Ibiza" hit our speakers in 2016, the island became even more so. The stunning island off the coast of Spain is known to be quite expensive, with parties on the beach throughout the year. Some of the best DJs in the world are known to travel and perform on this Balearic island, making it more of a fun instead of quiet place to be.

12 Relax: Brittany, France

Brittany is actually a region found in the Northwest corner of France that overlooks the Atlantic ocean. Known as a "hidden gem," Brittany allows tourists to wander their seaside cliffs, stroll the beaches, explore local markets, and see storybook castles. It's an enchanting area to explore in peace.

11 Unhealthy: Amsterdam, Netherlands

We've all heard of the tales of wild nights in Amsterdam, haven't we? Known for its Red Light District and various *ahem* activities, Amsterdam is an amazing city to live it up and explore those senses. However, with so much to see and do and the kinds of activities people head to Amsterdam for, there are other more relaxing cities to venture to instead.

10 Relax: Vientiane, Laos

Laos is a small country in Asia that's right next to Thailand and above Vietnam. The beautiful country is known for its rolling terrain and green hills. It's also known for Vientiane, the country's capital. It lies on the gorgeous Mekong River where visitors can visit the Buddha Park, a green space with over 200 Buddhist statues and monuments.

9 Unhealthy: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Brazil is a gorgeous country, home to the Amazon Rainforest and the Carnival festival. There are plenty of relaxing things to find in Brazil but the country has been overwhelmed by tourism, especially for Carnival. Held in Rio de Janeiro, over one-million people travel to party, creating a not-so-tranquil environment.

8 Relax: Tofino, British Columbia, Canada

Over on Vancouver Island, travelers can find the small area of Tofino. This area beckons those who adore being outside hiking, surfing, horse-riding, and exploring. Being so close to nature, outdoor enthusiasts may even get lucky and see a pod of whales swimming by! Tofino is the perfect area to reconnect with nature and get outside.

7 Unhealthy: Bangkok, Thailand

These days, when people think of Thailand their minds race to The Hangover Part II where the hilarious group men head to Thailand for Stu's wedding festivities. As the capital of Thailand, Bangkok has some stunning works of art to be seen but it's also known for interesting (for lack of a better word) behaviors at Nana Plaza and its wild nightlife.

6 Relax: Charleston, South Carolina, US

Charleston is an amazing city to visit for history buffs who want to take their time and soak in a new city. The gorgeous city is by the ocean and is chock-full of pastel-colored homes, cobblestone streets, great eats, and history tours. The golf is also fantastic for anyone who enjoys the leisurely sport.

5 Unhealthy: Nashville, Tennessee, US

Nashville may be home to country music but it's also become home to bachelor and bachelorette parties. Nashville has seen a huge boom in tourism over the past couple of years, with groups of friends coming to celebrate their big moments at some of Nashville's best bars. And who knows, they may even catch a country music star performing in a local bar.

4 Relax: Mendoza, Argentina

If sipping a glass of vino overlooking the mountains and vineyards sounds like paradise to you, then Mendoza, Argentina is your next destination. Mendoza is the perfect place for mature couples to come and let loose. From roaming the vineyards to going on hiking tours around the city's vast mountain ranges, tourists will feel one with Mendoza's culture.

3 Unhealthy: Prague, Czech Republic

Prague, Czech Republic may be a history buff's delight during the day but come nightfall, Prague becomes one of the best clubbing cities in Europe. There are a ton of underground nightclubs and concerts that hoards of people flock to to let off some steam. It's really the best of both worlds but considering how many people travel to Prague, it can be quite busy and take on a new life at night.

2 Relax: Tyrol Region (Northern Italy, Western Austria)

The Tyrol region is a stunning area in the alps, ranging from Western Austria to Northern Italy. The region is known for its breathtaking views of the alps and countryside, which makes it the perfect place for winter sports and outdoor spas. In the winter months, various spas have outdoor Jacuzzis and warm pools so visitors can be relaxed while taking in the sights.

1 Unhealthy: Berlin, Germany

Similar to Prague, Berlin is stuffed to the max with a legendary history. There are oodles of landmarks and museums to venture to when exploring Berlin but it's almost known for its clubbing as much as its history. With techno music blasting through the speakers, it's a music lover's fantasy but not so much a place to relax and reconnect.
