When you think of a resort in Mexico, it's easy to picture a location that is right on the beach. You hope that you'll be able to see the sand and water from your hotel room, that it's easy to grab some lounge chairs in the morning, and that there isn't too much wind. It's not hard to spend a week enjoying the beach.

But there are some other hotels in Mexico that have a lot of great things going for them, even if you're not near the beach and it's a different kind of holiday (but still super relaxing).

Ready to find out where you should consider booking a stay? Here is the perfect resort in Mexico... if you're willing to skip staying on the beach.

When you're looking for a place to stay in Mexico, check out NH Collection Mexico City Reforma. While you're not beachside, there is a pool, and since it's on the roof, that offers a peaceful feeling of privacy. It would be a nice place to hang out with a drink and book, or to take a nap in the middle of the day because you're on vacation and you totally can (but put on sunscreen first, of course). The design of the pool is super interesting and not something that you're going to see at a lot of hotels.

Most beachside resorts aren't going to have such pretty, modern rooms, as they can tend to look a little dull and status quo. The rooms here are colorful (the red chairs in the room look awesome) and cozy while being a design that really stands out from other hotels (especially hotels in hotter climates).

You Can Stroll Over To Restaurants And Other Attractions

The location of this hotel is awesome and while you won't be on the beach, you can consider everything walkable. You'll be able to stroll over to some restaurants, such as Cafe Nin. This is an awesome place for coffee, pastries, breakfast, or lunch, and it's really nice that it's so close to the hotel. If you stayed at a resort right on the beach, you would be limited by what the hotel offers for breakfast.

You're also close to a restaurant called La Mansion Marriott Reforma Steakhouse where, as you probably guessed from the name, you can get delicious steaks. You can also order flan for dessert, Caesar salad, a variety of soups, and more.

You can also walk over to some tourist attractions. As one former guest posted on Trip Advisor, "Location is very convenient for sightseeing, with Chapultepec Park within walking distance and the historical centre a short Uber or Metro ride away." The Historic Center or "Centro Historico" is definitely worth checking out as you're able to see beautiful buildings from the colonial period. You can find restaurants, stores, a cathedral, and more, and it's a popular place for tourists. This is a real perk of staying at this particular hotel as if you were staying on the beach, you wouldn't be able to soak up some history and culture.

The design of the restaurant makes you feel immediately at ease and on vacation. According to Oyster.com, there are many bars and places to go out at night in the neighborhood. The website explains, "The hotel knows its guests and with the party-hard nights come lazy weekends -- when it serves breakfast until late and offers free late check-out on Sundays, when possible." Oyster.com also notes that the restaurant serves international and Mexican food. It's nice to know that you can sleep in and still get a chance to enjoy breakfast since some hotels will stop serving it pretty early or have a short window of time where you can grab some morning grub.
