A passenger freaked out on a JetBlue international flight and forced the plane to land in Florida to have her removed.

There are a lot of things you’re not allowed to do on an airplane. Opening the emergency doors while the craft is in flight is one of them. Trying to gain access to the cabin is another. Playing footsie with the person sitting beside you is a very gross third.

You’re also not allowed to incite a panic. Saying things like “bomb” or “the plane is going to crash” are too very big nonos. And for obvious reasons: cram 100-plus people into a flying tube smaller than a city bus and any amount of discord can erupt into a plane-wide panic.

So when a woman kept shouting to anyone who would listen that the plane they were all flying was going to crash, JetBlue staff did the only thing they could and immediately landed to have that passenger removed.

The incident occurred last Tuesday on a JetBlue flight from the Dominican Republic to New York City. Shortly after takeoff, a woman began telling passengers that she was convinced the plane was going to crash. She kept telling passengers this for some time and in an escalating tone of voice, forcing flight attendants to take action.

Standard procedure is to land the plane to remove the problem passenger, which is exactly what happened. The flight was diverted to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport where she was removed by Federal Air Marshals.

Video of the scene was taken by a passenger via their cell phone, which you can see over on WSVN Miami Channel 7 News. She was clearly triggered by something on the in-flight monitors as she kept stating that the plane was already in the water.

“You don’t believe me! It’s gonna crash,” she can be heard in the footage. “You guys believe me, it’s gonna crash! Look at your monitors! We’re in the water!”

According to the site, she was later taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation. We’re not sure what the results of that evaluation were, but we’re sure it wasn’t a clean bill of health.
