For some, a wedding is a celebration of love. For others, a wedding is an opportunity to take advantage of an open bar. But for celebrities, weddings are nothing short of a spectacle. No matter how short the engagement or random the pairing may seem, it is the perfect way for the rich and famous to prove just how rich and famous they are. These events call for a huge-or at the very least, pricey- party where our favorite couples can pull out all the stops. And with limitless budgets, it’s impossible not to admire them from afar.
Whether it’s the venue, the flowers or the dress, there are plenty of reasons we can get caught up in these matrimonial moments. Throughout the past several years, we’ve seen countless celebrities say I do- some more lavishly than others. Those that did it bigger than everyone else are the ones we’ll be focusing on. The ones that occupied the covers of magazines, websites and Pinterest boards everywhere. The weddings that set trends for the next several years, despite the fact that most of us could never come close to replicating them. And while celebrity marriages (and their subsequent divorces) may come and go, the photos will last forever.
23 Britney Spears and Kevin Federline’s Trick Wedding
At the height of her career, pop star Britney Spears met professional dancer Kevin Federline on the dance floor at a Hollywood nightclub in 2004. Instead, the couple invited 30 people to her home for an “engagement party” that actually turned out to be their wedding. The bride wore a Monique Lhuillier gown for the living room ceremony, but slipped into an up-to-there mini dress for the backyard reception (People).
22 Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's European Affair
One thing no one will accuse Kim Kardashian of being is understated. For her third walk down the aisle with rapper Kanye West, the couple reportedly spent an estimated $2.8 million on their whirlwind wedding. The Kardashian clan started in France with a bachelorette party in Paris, a luncheon at Valentino’s estate just outside of the city, and rehearsal dinner at Versailles. Then a fleet of private plans took them to Florence, Italy for the ceremony and reception. The most noteworthy part of the ceremony was the flower wall filled with fresh white and cream-colored flowers, reportedly worth a reported $138,000 (eonline.com).
21 Alexandra Lenas and Sean Parker's Cinematic Ceremony
When a tech billionaire gets married, you know it’s going to be good. Or at the very least, expensive. Napster co-founder and former Facebook president Sean Parker married actress Alexandra Lenas in an epic Lord of the Rings themed wedding in 2013. The couple blocked off a portion of the famous Redwood Forest in Big Sur, California to bring their fantasy ceremony and reception to life. Parker and Lenas reportedly spent around $4.5 million on their big day, and that doesn’t even include the costumes for all 364 guests designed by the Lord of the Rings costume designer (Vanity Fair).
20 Gucci Mane's Cake-Cutting Sabre
Pretty much everything about Gucci Mane and Keyshia Ka’oir $1.7 million wedding was extravagant, but one component in particular really takes the cake…literally. The wedding cake was almost 12 feet tall, made up of four double-tiered layers with crystals hanging from each so it resembled a chandelier. The couple, who documented their special day for a reality tv special, could not use a simple knife to slice through a cake of this magnitude. Instead, they used a giant sword with a blinged-out handle to match (People.com)
19 Kate Moss' Countryside Couture
When you think countryside wedding, you probably think simple, relaxed, maybe even casual. That is, unless you are Kate Moss, known across the pond as “Kate the Great.” For the supermodel’s 2015 wedding to musician Jamie Hince, she wore a custom John Galliano dress for the ceremony, along with two reception dresses designed by close friend Stella McCartney. Most of her pint-size bridesmaids also donned custom Stella McCartney dresses. The entire bridal party arrived at the church in a fleet of Rolls-Royce Phantoms. If that wasn’t enough, Kate held an additional two -day reception at her Cotswolds mansion afterwards (Vogue UK).
18 David and Victoria Beckham's Matching Purple Party Attire
Back in the 1990s, soccer star David Beckham and Victoria “Posh Spice” Adams were pop culture royalty fondly known as “Posh and Becks.” So it made perfect sense when the couple rented a castle in the Irish countryside for their big day. Victoria’s ceremony ensemble was perfectly on theme, with a corseted Vera Wang ball gown and tiara. But it’s the couple’s reception looks that will be remembered in infamy. They partied in head-to-toe purple, with David even pairing purple suede Manolo shoes with his suit (brides.com).
17 Sofia Vergara's I Do's
Actors Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello got engaged after a mere six months of dating and tied the knot a year later. Most celebrity couples want to keep their wedding as private as possible, at least until they sell the photos to a magazine for millions of dollars. Instead, Sofia posted her photos in practically real time on Instagram. By the end of the weekend, Sofia had shared 55 photos in total. While fans certainly appreciated Sofia’s openness with her fans and followers, most people (even the non-famous) would agree that enjoying the day is more important than posting on social media, no matter how much attention you’ll get (popsugar.com).
16 Priyanka Chopra's and Nick Jonas' Opulent Wedding Weekend

15 Kate Upton and Justin Verlander's Post-World Series Wedding
When a model as famous as Kate Upton marries an athlete as well-known as baseball pitcher Justin Verlander, you better believe Vogue will be there to cover it. But thanks to Justin’s team making it to the World Series, they came close to having to cancel their Italian wedding. Luckily, the two were able to join their family and friends at the Rosewood Resort in Tuscany, where they exchanged vows on a scenic hilltop overlooking the lush gardens. In honor of the wedding location, the bride wore a custom design from legendary Italian design house Valentino (Vogue).
14 Celine Dion's 7 Pound Headpiece
Legendary singer Celine Dion married her manager, Rene Angelil in a traditional ceremony at the very grand Notre-Dame Basilica back in 1994. Maybe she was trying to match the dress to the wedding venue, because the singer’s couture dress was as elaborate as the basilica. The custom Mirella and Steve Gentile gown featured 20-foot train and took more than 1,000 hours to create. She topped it off with a headpiece and veil that weighed in at 7 pounds and included more than 2,000 Austrian crystals (womenio.com).
13 Star Jones and Ricardo Lugo's Love Boat
Star Jones received a lot of flack for heavily publicized first wedding back in 2004 for all of the corporate sponsorships she brokered for freebies. But in 2018, she scaled way back. Star and her second husband, Ricardo Lugo, got married on a Royal Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas. Star traded in the custom-made wedding gown from her first wedding for an-off-the rack dress, and made her way to the altar sans bridesmaids. She carried out the boat theme with an actual ship captain officiating the ceremony (People.com).
12 Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom's Speedy Road To The Altar
Quickie celebrity engagements may seem normal now, but 2009 was a different time. Even by today’s standards, Khloe and Lamar’s 1-month courtship takes the (wedding) cake. The couple met at an event on August 27 and wed exactly one month later, with the couple giving Khloe's mother/manager, Kris Jenner, only nine days to plan the entire wedding. E! cameras were there to document the short planning process as well as the big day for the family’s reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
11 Kaley Cuoco's New Year's Eve Nuptials
Actress Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting met, married and subsequently divorced in the span of just two years: a quick completion timeline even by Hollywood standards. Three months after meeting, Ryan proposed and the two wed just three months later. They began the new year on a very romantic note, with a New Year’s Eve wedding. The couple exchanged vows only a few hours before midnight in front of 150 guests in the Santa Monica Mountains just north of Los Angeles. Sticking with the nontraditional wedding theme, Kaley wore a petal-pink custom gown and carried a matching pink bouquet (Eonline).
10 Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann's Sandy Vow Renewal

9 Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger's funeral...I mean wedding
Arguably two of the most famous Canadians in music, Avril Lavigne and Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger married just one year after dating. Their wedding, which was documented in Hello Magazine, took place in the Chateau de la Napoule, a medieval castle just outside of Cannes in the south of France. And let’s just say they really committed to the gothic theme. For their completely candlelit ceremony, both the groom and bride wore all black. Avril even carried an all-black rose wedding bouquet for her walk down the aisle.
8 Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton's Barnyard Bash
Once upon a time, the county music kingdom had its very own king and queen, and they were Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert. The couple exchanged vows inside an actual barn filled with real antler chandeliers and candle-filled mason jars. Staying on theme, Miranda paired her mother’s wedding dress with cowboy boots and a bouquet made of antique brooches (People Magazine).
7 Beyonce and Jay Z's Bachelor Pad Venue
Beyonce and Jay Z are notoriously private, so it’s no surprise their wedding was as equally discreet. A decade later, fans are finally starting to get some information on the couple’s big day. Parts were as lavish as you would expect, with Beyonce flying in 70,000 white dendrobium orchids from Thailand. One thing the couple didn’t splurge on was a venue. The couple wed in front of 40 guests at Jay Z’s Tribeca penthouse, which he purchased on his own four years prior according to StreetEasy.com (Popsugar.com).

Six weeks later, Michael’s parents hosted another 500-guest reception in Vancouver, Canada. 5 Lady Mary Charteris And Her Cut-Outs
English it girl Lady Mary Charteris is constantly getting attention from the press for her svelte figure, which she put on full display in her wedding dress. She told Vogue after attending one of designer Pam Hogg’s fashion shows, she “needed Pam to make [her] a dress.” The dress may not have been the expected choice for a seemingly traditional aristocrat wedding, but Mary is no ordinary aristocrat. She is best known for partying with Kate Moss and Georgia May Jagger, so this may have been a relatively tame choice for the socialite.
4 Amal Clooney's Cinderella Moment
When confirmed bachelor George Clooney announced his engagement to British international human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin, the world couldn’t help but take notice. While she was already accomplished in her respective field, she certainly did live the glamorous Hollywood life till she married George. For her A-list Italian wedding, she wore a custom Oscar de la Renta gown. According to Vogue, who attended her final fitting, the dress required 14 yards of Chantilly lace and the lace neckline and bodice was covered with intricate beading and crystals embroidered by hand to ensure perfection.
