History Of Mount Juliet Estate

This magnificent manor home was named by the Earl of Carrick in honor of his wife Juliet (full name Lady Julianna Butler). It is situated on a hill and gazes of the River Nore below. In 1987 it was purchased by the Killeen Group, who then proceeded to develop the site with its 1,500 acres with a golf course, a hotel, a stud, and some residential buildings. For a time it was affiliated with Hilton Hotels.

Golf Course

The estate boasts a grand par 72, 7,300-yard, or 6,700-meter golf course which has been voted the best Parkland Golf Course in Ireland twice. The golf course offers the full 18 hole course and has been open since 1991. Five lakes have been built for this luxury golf course and over 80 bunkers have been placed strategically throughout the golf course.

Fine Dining

The restaurant in the manor is called the Lady Helen. As a luxury Michelin-starred restaurant it offers some of the finest dining in all of Ireland. Today this fancy restaurant draws discerning diners from far and wide. The Head Chef is currently John Kelly who sources the ingredients locally.

Equestrian At Mount Juliet Estate

Today MJ Equestrian offers a state-of-the-art equestrian center that boasts world-class facilities. People can book a trail ride through the 500 acres that are still part of the estate. Riders are permitted to trot or gallop through Irish meadows and forests according to their levels of experience.

MJ Equestrian currently has over 20 horses. MJ Equestrian has a dedicated Sport Horse stable and has several horses competing in that Grand Prix level. They produce some of the top quality sport horses for the world.

The estate's Equestrian center caters to all horse lovers, with horses and riders for horse riding novice through to experienced riders. They also offer fantastic family horse riding tours through private trails led by experienced guides. For those looking to hone their horse-riding skills, one can book private riding lessons and practice showjumping.
