Sport has always been a part of humans since Prehistory and the reason behind this nature is not far-fetched as Ancient humans relied solely on challenging activities such as hunting and farming to survive. One other reason behind the sporting nature of humans can be linked to the competitive psychology of humans. From competing for the best caves and best mates to competing for lands and territories, humans have always competed with each other.

As the world became more civilized, the need to satisfy this competitive and adventurous nature of man led to the creation of organized sports such as – wrestling, swimming, archery, and others in many different Ancient Kingdoms. Perhaps with the need for more fun activities and maximum satisfaction, humans created more sports and some more until the normal became boring thereby leading to the creation of these extreme and dangerous sports which best reserved for the brave.

8 Bull Riding

Popularly referred to as the most dangerous 8 seconds of sports, Bull riding is a dangerous sport that features a rider trying to stay on top of a bucking bull for complete 8 seconds without getting vigorously thrown off to the ground by the leaping, and spinning bull. The sport is considered extreme mainly because these aggressive bulls usually weigh 1,500 pounds (680 Kilograms) or more and riders even try to stay on top of these massive bulls while holding the ropes with one hand. The obvious risk involved in this extreme sport includes getting trampled on the neck, chest, head, or any part of the body by the 1,500 pounds beast which can lead to death or serious health conditions.

7 Big Wave Surfing

When the depth of the sea increases, ordinary swimmers turn back to safety. When the winds grow stronger, normal surfers take a break while big wave surfers linger on to get the thrill of the mighty sea waves. Big wave surfing involves surfing inside these extremely powerful sea waves which can sometimes rise as high as 75 feet (22 meters), possessing the power to effortlessly crush a person with its weight. Big wave surfing is a territory best left for the elite surfers who are also at the risk of being seriously injured or killed by the force of the waves in seconds.

6 Free Solo Climbing

With other forms of climbing; ice axes, ropes, and other climbing equipment are used to help climbers make their accent but when it comes to solo climbing, climbers come with nothing but their clothes, hands, legs, eyes, senses, and skills. Free solo climbing is the most dangerous type of climbing in the world and it is best left for the highly experienced climbers due to the difficulty and risk involved. Climbers could miss a step or lose a grip and with no ropes or equipment to hold the climber to the mountain, it’s a bone-cracking fatal fall.

5 Skydiving

Humans are born with two fears - the fear of loud noises and the fear of falling. Skydiving offers a way to conquer the second fear (safely). For a basic skydiving experience, the height starts from 11,000 feet to 14,000 feet but can be higher in some skydiving companies and this height allows skydivers to free fall from 30 to 60 seconds or more with a higher height. The overall skydiving experience lasts long after the double parachutes are deployed; although, the thrill still lies in the free fall.

4 Free Flying

An extension of skydiving, free-flying involves performing different body movements in the middle of the free fall and getting into positions that can either increase or decrease the speed of the free fall. In Free flying, skydivers are to be aware at all times that they only have a few seconds before their landing; Thus, total alertness is crucial in order not to get carried away by the flying privilege.

3 Bungee Jumping

Bungee Jumping involves jumping from a tower or bridge with an elastic rope strapped to the legs and waist. As the jumper jumps down to the bottom of the height, the elastic rope rebounds after being stretched by the weight and continues this bounce until it comes to a rest. To make the more adventurous and scarier, some bungee jumps are done from the top of crocodile-infested waters which is even scary to imagine.

2 Base Jumping

The longing to feel like birds have led to the emergence of so many jumping activities and even with all these activities, some still choose the risky Base Jumping – an extreme and dangerous sport which is done when a jumper jumps off a building, cliff, mountain, antennae, skyscraper or other tall fixed objects and then descends to land with the help of a parachute. The jump is considered dangerous because of the limited time available to safely deploy the single parachute.

1 Volcano Boarding

Videos and news of the fury of active volcanoes have failed to scare people away from the dangerous natural element instead; it has motivated them to create a thrilling sport that involves hiking up to an active volcano and then sliding down on the slopes of the mountain which probably features lots of boiling elements underneath. Risks involved in Volcano boarding are intense because those involved can suck in poisonous gases with the air they breathe, or even risk getting caught up in an eruption and getting struck by a flying 1,0000C lava bomb.
