Planning a trip to California? Why not "glamp" while you're there! Glamping, a nickname for "glamorous camping," is a unique and comfortable way to get some fresh air and connect with the great outdoors. Glamping sites can include yurts, treehouses, cabins, safari tents, tipis, domes, you name it! The point is, you're not going to be sleeping on the ground and you won't be without all your modern conveniences.

There are beautiful glamping locations in every state, but when it comes to majestic views and the ultimate in pampering, California crushes the competition. Check out this list of the 10 most luxurious glamping spots in The Golden State.

10 Redwood Treehouse In The Santa Cruz Mountains

There are lot of treehouses in the Santa Cruz Mountains to choose from, but this one is extra special for several different reasons. First of all, this particular elevated cabin has not one, but two trees growing through the living room and the bathroom. Secondly, this is by far the most luxurious treehouse in the area, boasting a hot tub and all the modern conveniences of home. And the pièce de résistance? This sucker is nestled in the heart of California's wine country, amidst ancient Redwoods on the banks of the Russian River.

9 9. Ventana Big Sur

Although Ventana Big Sur is technically glamping, it's definitely not going to feel like it. The location alone is absolutely breathtaking, perched on the very edge of the California coastline and dotted with customized luxury "glampsites," all which have views of a 20-acre canyon. At Ventana, you can cook up some s'mores in the fire pit like a true camper and then relax at the bathhouse with teak-enclosed showers, heated floors, marble vanities, and gorgeous bathrooms. It's the best of both worlds.

8 8. Canyon Cedar Cabins At El Capitan Canyon

If you want the feeling of glamping in a nature resort, then Canyon Cedar Cabins is the perfect location for you. Cabins are available in many different sizes, but don't worry, even the smaller units are nicely furnished and equipped with a full bathroom, heating, kitchenettes, a mini-fridge, and a wet bar sink. Have some money to blow? Upgrade to a cabin with a soaking bathtub and a fireplace, or just book the Safari Cabin Suite, located near the ocean on a private hilltop. While you're there, feel free to enjoy whale watching, surfing, jeep tours, or a Swedish massage.

7 7. Dome In The Desert, Near Joshua Tree

Now, this is the way to enjoy Joshua Tree! Dome in the Desert is exactly what it sounds like, only the reality is much better than you can possibly imagine. Don't believe me? Check out their Instagram and you'll see what I mean. The dome is located in the High Desert area of the Morongo Basin in Southern California, and it's the perfect place to stay if you're looking for some peace and quiet (and an amazing view of the Milky Way). The dome has two private bedrooms, a larger group sleeping area, strings of neon lights, a hodgepodge of Native-American inspired decor, and an outside patio where guests can enjoy the night sky.

6 6. Treebones Resort In Big Sur

If you want to glamp in Big Sur but you aren't exactly sure what kind of glamping experience to choose from, Treebones Resort has got them all. They've got yurts, "human nests," regular campsites, and the beauty you see pictured above: the autonomous tent, starting at $595 a night. Too expensive? Don't worry, each yurt contains a queen-sized bed, pinewood floors, an indoor sink, heating, electric lighting, and raised decks facing the ocean. Also included are the resort amenities, such as outdoor yoga, massages, an outdoor sushi bar, and a heated ocean-view pool and hot tub.

5 5. Sequoia High Sierra Camp At Kings Canyon National Park

Ready to connect with nature and enjoy the great outdoors? Head over to Sequoia High Sierra Camp and explore Sequoia National Park and Kings Canyon National Park while you're there. All tent cabins have spectacular views (thanks to being at 8,282-ft of elevation) and are outfitted with plush king-sized (or twin) beds and fancy Persian rugs. You might be in the woods, but you definitely won't be eating trail mix! Breakfast, a picnic buffet, and a five-course seasonal, Mediterranean-inspired dinner are all included. Not exactly "roughing it," is it?

4 4. Costanoa Lodge, Pescadero

Costanoa Lodge is an eco-resort that offers unique tent bungalows clad with four-poster beds, but they also have cabins and lodge accommodations if you're feeling less adventurous. The entire location is picturesque, but the best thing about this place is the onsite spa (perfect for a relaxing massage) and Costonoa's Cascade Bar and Grill, serving up locally sourced fare. Unlike some of the places on this list, Costanoa is relatively affordable, with safari tents starting at only $100 a night.

3 3. Inn Town Campground, Nevada City

Inn Town Campground is located in Nevada City, California, and although it's not quite as high-end as some of the other places on this list, it's still a nice slice of a luxury set amid nature. Each safari-style glamping tent has a cozy bed, vintage decor, and electric blankets to keep you warm at night. The on-site camp store sells gourmet marshmallows and sauvignon blanc, so prepare to snuggle up in a warm blanket and treat yourself. Glamping tents range from $85-$120 a night, so what are you waiting for?

2 2. Terra Glamping, Sonoma Coast

I checked this place out on Instagram, and the views from their glamping tents have me salivating. Although the original location exists in the Catskills of New York, a new branch of Terra Glamping is coming to the Sonoma Coast and offers 10 glamping sites, all with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. Their motto is "where modern luxury and the Milky Way collide," and that alone makes me want to pack my bags and book a flight to California. This place offers sunrise yoga, luxurious furnishings, sunset s'mores, and everything that made the East Coast version an instant success.

1 1. Safari West, Santa Rosa

An African safari in the heart of wine country? Why not! Safari West is a wildlife preserve located in Santa Rosa, California, and is home to 900 African animals. Enjoy a safari tour during the day and extend your stay overnight in a luxurious Safari West tent imported from Botswana. Each tent has a private viewing deck, an en-suite bathroom, polished hardwood floors, and beautiful African-inspired bedding. Fall asleep to the sounds of the Serengeti without taking a step out of California. Tent rates are $260 a night and include breakfast.
