Legoland's resort in Florida is about to get a whole new "world" that will be based on the immensely popular Lego Movie.
Being a globally recognized franchise that spans different mediums and different decades is harder than some companies make it seem. Many people may hear that another Transformers movie is about to hit the big screen, but the masterminds behind the eternal battle between Autobots and Decepticons must be doing something right. Same goes for Marvel, Pokémon, Super Mario, must we go on?
Well, actually, we must. There's one franchise that has been around for longer than any of the ones mentioned above and is still going strong. Pretty impressive considering Marvel was founded in 1939. However, the always popular children's toys Lego has the superhero franchise beat by seven years. Lego was first established in 1932 yet is still going strong today.
Like Marvel, Lego started out in one form, which is the one it is still most known for, but has expanded into many more. Lego's first and most important revenue stream will always be its almost endless range of toys. However, the building bricks even have their own movie now, and their own theme park. In fact, those two things are about to join forces to create The Lego Movie World, as reported by PR Newswire.
The expansive new part of Legoland Florida Resort will focus on the very popular Lego Movie as well as the upcoming sequel, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part. The Lego Movie World will feature three brand new rides. Master Of Flight, a ride which will allow fans to ride a triple-decker couch beneath a full-dome virtual screen. Unikitty's Disco Drop which will take fans all the way to the top of Cloud Cuckoo Land. Last but not least is the interactive Battle of Bricksburg, where riders will be able to spray water at targets in their attempts to stop Duplo aliens from invading and stealing Lego bricks.
While the new rides that will be a part of The Lego Movie World are obviously the main attraction, but there is also so much more. Guests will be able to meet and greet some of their favorite characters, buy souvenirs from The Awesome Shop, and visit a playground inspired by Benny's spaceship. The new sector of the resort is scheduled to open in spring 2019.
