While its top suites are reputed to be more than $10,000 a night, it is not in the running for being the most expensive hotel in the world.

The most expensive hotel in the world is very low down, in fact, it's underwater. The most expensive hotel in the world is reputed to be a charter submarine that goes for around $240,000 per night. In the United States, the most expensive room is Palms Casino Resort's New Empathy Suite which goes for around $100,000 per night.


The Shanghai Tower - The Tallest Skyscraper In China

Depending on how one counts the high of the building, the Shanghai Tower has just this year been demoted to 3rd tallest building in the world having been overtaken by the Merdeka 118 in Malaysia.

Hotel J - The Highest Hotel In The World

The J Hotel occupies the top floors of the 2,000-foot or 632-meter high Shanghai Tower. The Shanghai Tower is the tallest tower in China.

This luxury hotel offers 165 rooms including 34 suites. This comes complete with a

24/7 personal butler service, an indoor swimming pool, toiletries by Hermes and Diptyque, magnolia petal-shaped bathtubs, a luxe spa with a focus on Reiki treatments, and full Chinese tea sets in every room according to CNN.

Hotel J has four options when it comes to suite types; Shanghai Suite, Jin Jiang Suite, J Suite, and Grand Suite.

The premium suite is the Shanghai Suite. This luxurious accommodation is 380 square meters large and includes a parlor, study, kitchen, physiotherapy area, and a room just for getting dressed (as well as the customary bedroom).

Prices are expensive at this hotel. CNN reported that the J Suite cost 67,628 RMB (about $10,467) and prices for the even more expensive Shanghai Suite were not disclosed. However, at the time of writing (March 2022), the J Suite was listed for 4,180 RMB ($660) and the Shanghai Suite for the same price. Perhaps the prices are being steeply discounted at the moment.

The highest hotel in the world according to the Guinness Book of World Records is the Gevora Hotel at 356 meters (1,168 feet) - at least until the even taller Ciel Tower is completed. That's because the title of the tallest hotel is normally buildings that are only used as hotel space. The J Hotel only has the upper stories of the Shanghai Tower.

Dining At J Hotel

The J Hotel comes with seven dining options in the hotel including a Cantonese restaurant called Heavenly Jin on the 120th floor (the top floor). The dress code is smart casual and offers a "fusion of diverse culinary arts, featuring modern European, Japanese and fine Chinese cuisines created by top chefs from different countries" - according to their website.

As one enters the Heavenly Jin restaurant, one will be greeted with a 30 meter long Silk Road-themed Italian mosaic.
