Disney’s Immersive Star Wars Hotel Experience

Disney’s ambitious Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser came to change the way the world views a thematic vacation. Set to open in 2020 but delayed due to the pandemic, the attraction finally launched in March 2022 to the excitement of Star Wars fans of all ages.

The experience seeks to be somewhere between a themed hotel and an immersive theater, creating a Star Wars adventure tailored to each of the guests. Passengers will be taken by space shuttle to the hotel slash starcruiser ship Halcyon, where everything is on-theme and in-universe: from the soap dispensers and the droid AI in the cabins, the windows that pan out to the galaxy void, to the crew that stays in character the whole time, the ongoing, theatrical, interactive entertainment and even the specialized galactic cuisine. Supposed to be set in between the movies The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, the trips will feature Jedis, stormtroopers, sith lords, droids, and more - like an RPG dream come true.

What Can You Do At Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser?

With such an interactive premise, the voyage aboard Halcyon might seem a bit overwhelming, but the young padawans need not worry. Every passenger will receive a Star Wars Datapad special area to the Play Disney Parks app on their phones and a Starcruiser MagicBand, which will aid in accessing areas on the ship, learning and planning their personal itinerary, and receiving and completing missions.

Captain’s Muster

After settling into the rooms, space travelers will be called to the Captain's Muster at the Atrium, where the crew will be introduced, as well as different passengers - including a tense surprise visit from the First Order - where your story really sets off.

Lightsaber Training

Passengers can hone their lightsaber skills in the interactive lightsaber training facilities, where the Saja (with a little extra guidance from Yoda) will guide and teach all who wish to learn the way of the force, with personal lightsabers and special Jedi lightsaber shields.

Bridge Training

On top of training in the ways of the force, Halcyon voyagers will get the chance to explore the ship’s working bridge and control room, learning how to navigate, pilot, control, and defend the starcruiser, a fun experience that may come in hand in case of any interplanetary scuffles.

Relax At The Sublight Lounge

The Sublight Lounge is Halcyon’s elegant lounge and bar, where passengers can relax, get a cosmic drink, and even play a little holo-sabacc (space poker like the one that lost Han Solo his Millennium Falcon). Alcoholic drinks need to be paid apart.

Explore Batuu At Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

On day 2 of the Galactic Starcruiser experience, travelers will be taken (again by space shuttle) to the planet of Batuu at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Galaxy’s Edge.

With special Starcruiser passenger pins and access, they’ll get to go to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Rise of The Resistance rides as parts of the overall story, and special, personal missions like scavenger hunting and toy hacking will be available on each travelers’ Datapad. Time for a special lunch in Batuu and some galactic shopping in between missions will also be arranged.

There are snacks available all day - including blue and green milk on the tap. Dinner also features special performances from galactic superstar Gaya!

The interactive entertainment is ongoing throughout the whole trip, with different possible missions and activities happening simultaneously.

The possibilities are endless, from droid racing to making a deal with smugglers to feeding information to the first order to helping Chewie and Rey sneak past the First Order stormtroopers. The experience is what you make of it, and truly being immersed in the story and interacting with other passengers is what will elevate the whole interstellar vacation.

Is The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Worth It?

Disney’s Galactic Starcruiser runs at an average of 5,000 to 6,000 USD - which is quite a salty price for a 2-day vacation. For those looking for a relaxing SciFi-flavored cruise, it might not be the best choice. However, what visitors are paying for is to be part of a real-life Star Wars story, one that demands playful immersion and a lot of activity; though that certainly won’t be for everyone, it is a one-of-a-kind experience. It’s also worth noting that the price is paid per room, and each cabin sleeps up to 5 people.

The package includes:

  • Two-night stay at the Halcyon cabins
  • Your own Star Wars Magicband
  • Admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
  • Food and beverages for the whole trip (excluding alcohol)
  • Ongoing, all-day immersive entertainment
