Singapore is known for many things including botanical gardens and eco-friendly living, but a pool doesn't exactly fit either of those categories. What it does fit, though, is the category of modern and chic architecture, which is one of the reasons many people make the Marine Bay Sands hotel a top priority.

One feature of the hotel is the infinity pool on its roof that spans three buildings in total - and constructing it was no small feat. Overlooking the entirety of the city and the marina, many wonder if the views are worth the steep price of a hotel room. In short, the answer is yes, and this is why.

About The Marina Bay Sands Infinity Pool

Infinity pools are so popular because of their ability to trick the mind into thinking they're never-ending. The pool's water comes right up to the surface and seems to cascade over the side in what would be a waterfall but, when viewed from overhead, there's a ledge that keeps water from actually spilling over the side. The result is a seamless pool with seemingly no edges, making swimmers appear as though they're free-floating in a pool of water with no wals. The infinity pool at the Marina Bay Sands does this exceptionally well, and over a distance that's rather mindboggling, especially for those who are lucky enough to take a dive.

What It's Like To Swim In The Pool

Many might be wondering what it's like to have the chance to swim in this incredible infinity pool, and the experience is second to none. There are some things to keep in mind (more on that later) but in short, it's something worth checking into. The pool is only open to those who are staying at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel which will run visitors a pretty penny. However, the chance to swim in one of the best pools in the world, and take a dip in one out of three hot tubs that overlook the marina, is well worth it.

The Pool

The busiest time of the day to head up to the pool is during the day, with nighttime hours being the least crowded. Those swimming at night also have the chance to see Singapore from a unique vantage point, as well as the chance to watch the nightly Singapore light show.

The best chance guests have at spending the most time in or around the pool is to head to their check-in early - no later than 9 AM. Since check-in times can run a bit lengthy, this guarantees that guests will have access to their rooms (and, by extension, the infinity pool) by 11 AM.

Visitors will also want to time their visit around Singapore's weather. While many days are hot and humid, the region does experience a rainy season. The northeast monsoon season goes from December to early March, which the southeast monsoon season goes from June to September. Therefore, the months in between are the best bet. Since the pool opens at 6 AM, it's a good idea to get to the pool - or at least be awake and thinking about it - that early, too. Don't be surprised when there are already people taking laps, everyone gets an early start when it comes to enjoying this infinity pool.

The Amenities Around The Pool

As mentioned before, the pool is also home to three separate hot tubs. While the infinity pool looks over the city skyline, the hot tubs are facing the opposite way and have gorgeous views of the marina down below. Along with the pool, guests will find seating and lounge chairs which are all first-come, first-serve. Anyone who leaves their things behind to theoretically 'save a seat' will likely notice that they've been moved - the hotel staff is pretty quick to clear off chairs (after about 45 minutes or so) so that waiting guests can sit down.

Sunscreen is also available - but at a cost, which is right around $20USD. So, it's best to save some money and either pack some or purchase it elsewhere in the city. Something else to note is that the pool gets a good cleaning several times throughout the day, which means swimmers need to exit the pool temporarily while this happens. Luckily, each section is cleaned separately, so swimmers can either wait outside the pool or move onto another section.

Prices & Tips

  • Cost/Night: $295USD
  • Not Staying at the Hotel? While non-hotel guests won't have access to the pool, they can still observe it at the SkyPark observation deck, which only requires a ticket purchase to gain access and features a bar.
  • Hot tip: Consider arranging a late check-out to enjoy the pool on the final reservation day.
