For a lot of people, the concept of just being an adrenaline junkie comes across as something quite silly. In reality, though, it's just a way of life that a lot of folks just can't quite wrap their heads around. There's nothing wrong with that because we all lead different lives and that'll always be the case. Alas, in many ways, adrenaline junkies go above and beyond - often using the thrill of risk to enhance their experiences.

Today, we're going to take a look at different ways in which they can accomplish that goal even when they're enjoying themselves overseas. Here are 10 ideas for adrenaline junkies when they go on vacation.

10 A Water Park

Water parks have just about everything that an adrenaline junkie could enjoy... depending on how much they like to let loose, of course.

From the hectic wave pools (if you’ve seen some of the more extreme ones) to some great water slides, it’s a bit of an escape from lying by the pool all holiday long. Even in cold weather destinations, there’s usually an indoor water park of some kind not too far away, and that’s one of the things we love the most about this unique form of entertainment.

9 Get A Motorbike

Motorbike, moped: whatever you want to call it, getting your own form of transport and just jetting off can feel incredibly liberating.

Some people who do this don’t even really know how to ride one and simply learn on the job, which of course, is a bit dangerous and scary. Regardless of what your opinion is toward bikes, though, there’s no denying the fact that there’s a certain thrill attached to riding down streets and roads that you previously didn’t even know existed. It’s different, but it’s something that can lead to a few great memories.

8 A Long Hike

Hiking isn’t everyone’s cup of tea and we can somewhat understand the reasoning behind that, but a long hike is great for many reasons. One of the main ones, in our mind, is that it gives you some clarity and peace of mind that other activities just don’t.

Your focus needs to be on what step you take next, especially if you’re attempting a hike that comes across as being very "high risk, high reward" in its nature. The States are great for this, but top quality hikes can be found all throughout the world.

7 Skydiving

Being spontaneous is what life is all about, or at the very least, it’s what life should be all about if you like to live on the wild side. If you’re on vacation, then there’s a good chance you didn’t plan ahead to go on a skydive, so if you’re acting on impulse, we’d suggest doing your research and finding one with a few hundred decent TripAdvisor reviews.

Once that stage of the process has been done, psyching yourself up for the action itself is probably the biggest challenge of all.

6 Theme Parks

If water isn't your thing, then the wonder of theme parks is what you adrenaline junkies want to think about.

From high-speed coasters to live-action rides that leave you on the edge of your seat, there’s quite literally something for all the family. Feeling like you’re going to fall from hundreds of feet in the air, when in reality you’re safer than you probably would be on a high-quality airline, really is something to behold and something to be experienced.

5 Sample The Local Entertainment

The adrenaline side of this almost certainly comes from the sense of the unknown, which is how most junkies should approach this type of idea. Imagine a scenario in which you have absolutely no idea what kind of experience or show you’ve signed up to.

Once it has been endured (if that’s the right word), then one way or another, you’ll have a brand new credit under your belt... albeit a slightly different one. This may not qualify for the adrenaline side of things for most, but we think it should be in the conversation.

4 Go-Karting

The trick here is to find a go-karting track, or potentially even something a step up from that, which isn’t going to leave you feeling short-changed. If your 12-year-old nephew will do this and feel like they’ve barely made a dent in their entertainment for the day, then you’ll know that it isn’t the one for you.

There’s a danger element associated with this depending on how high up the ladder you decide to go, but at the same time, the competitive edge takes over, and the rest is history.

3 Cliff Jump

It’s kind of a "fight or flight" feeling when you decide to go cliff jumping because your instinct is to maintain a position of safety. We’ve all heard the horror stories about how cliff jumping accidents have occurred, but as long as all the correct measures have been made, you should be fine. It’s the standard image that many of us see or re-enact, and rightly so.

Cliff jumping is perceived not to be the smartest of ideas, but the feeling of flying through the air before you hit the water really is special.

2 Pedalo Slide

Calling this tame would be an understatement in the eyes of many, but at the very least, being out on the open water and having to test your swimming abilities out there qualifies as something of a challenge.

In order for it to work then securing a high-tech pedalo with a very big slide is going to be the best way to go, but we fear you may need to have a slightly higher budget in order to accomplish this goal. Either way, try not to hit the water too hard.

1 Beach Water Sports

We’re talking jet-skis, banana boats, flyboarding and all that kind of fun for those of you who want to feel alive when you head on down to the beach and bask in the glory of being away on holiday. Sunbathing is always a valid option but if you want to take things to a whole other level, committing to something that is going to push and challenge your body is always entertaining.

Just make sure you load up on lotion because you're probably going to fall in the water... a lot.
