McDonald's opened doors in 1940, so you can only imagine the number of menus and the different food they have served worldwide. Food comes and food goes, right? In the meantime, McDonald's has put some dubious items on the menu and customers did what they're expected to do: order them.

We must say, however, that some of those foods were actually not that yummy, not to mention the looks of some of them. If you think of McDonald's, it's even hard to understand how they could come up with such ideas and actually sell them. Some of the recipes have fish, other seafood and some are too hard to (even) imagine.

Take a look at the foods McDonald's used to serve people (but really shouldn't have).

15 Lobster Should Never Have A "Mc" Before It (We Think You Agree)

How could someone come up with the idea of serving lobster on a bread loaf? Well, we're not sure either, but McDonald's customers didn't appreciate the food for sure since it got out of the menu really fast. Lobster simply doesn't go along with fast food.

14 McSalad Used To Be McDonald's "Premium Salad" (We're Still Looking For That Premium Touch)

There was a time that preceded the salads you can order at McDonald's nowadays—such dark times. The company thought it was a great idea to create "premium salads" served in cups (that had chicken included). But customers were not convinced enough to order healthy food in a fast-food restaurant.

13 Isn't There Something Missing From This McDonald's' Fruit And Walnut Salad?

Where is the "salad" part?

We're so confused with this Fruit and Walnut salad that we don't even know where to begin... It is not difficult to understand why this item got quickly out of the menu—no one was ordering some apple slices with yogurt, walnut pieces and, like, five grapes.

12 No One Ate Fish McBites And That's Why It Stopped Being Served

Who on Earth would order little pieces of fried fish? This failed attempt at creating a different version of the iconic chicken McNuggets quickly disappeared, and we understand why. People claim that the sauce also didn't go well with the Fish McBites (never forget we're speaking of fish being served at McDonald's—it's just strange).

11 Dear McDonald's: Chopped Beefsteak On A Piece Of Bread Would Never Work

That was what customers said since they couldn't even chew the beefsteak without ruining the whole sandwich. Also, is it okay if we address those tiny (almost invisible) slices of onion on top of the steak? You were also thinking about it, don't even lie...

10 We Still Don't Understand How The McHotDog Made It To The Menu

Where can we begin? Well, with that piece of bread that is one of the most strange bread we have seen in a long time. These were sad times for McDonald's since they thought it was a brilliant idea to add a hotdog to an all-burger menu. The McHotDog was barely selling.

9 Ladies And Gents: McSpaghetti, Or How To Not Enter The Italian Market

There was a (dark) time when the American fast-food company tried to enter the Italian Market by cooking its rendition of a classic spaghetti (topped with tomato sauce and hard to see cheese). Judging by the looks, you can guess what (quickly) happened to this food.

8 Hula Burger: Yes, That's A Pineapple Slice In The Middle Of A Burger

In a failed attempt of channeling the "Hawaiian side of life", McDonald's once tried to serve the Hula Burger—which was a normal cheeseburger with a pineapple slice on top of the piece of cheese.

In case you're asking, the answer is "yes", there was also a beef burger somewhere in there.

7 Hot 'N Spicy McChicken: It Surely Doesn't Look That Hot

As you (might) know, McDonald's biggest specialty relates to everything that involves beef—and that's why you wouldn't be surprised if a chicken fried burger never resulted in such a menu. Plus, some customers state that the chicken burger was, in fact, too spicy for their taste.

6 Onion Nuggets: That's A "No" (Then And Now)

Any thoughts about frying onion bits and sell them to the public?

Let us tell you ours: just don't. Bearing in mind that a lot of people don't like onions, it would be predicted that this item simply wasn't ordered.

Dear McDonald's, please stick the fried "stuff" to chicken, not vegetables.

5 Big N' Tasty: It Doesn't Look That Big (Nor Tasty)

When you order a burger at McDonald's, you expect it to be the biggest and juiciest of them all.

We don't see that in the Big N' Tasty that used to be served, but we can't wait to hear your opinion on this!

Needless to say that customers would rather eat a Big Mac.

4 Arch Deluxe: What Was McDonald's Thinking Of?

The Arch Deluxe is one of McDonald's biggest flops. It had a huge marketing campaign announcing the burger contained top-quality ingredients. It included beef on a potato flour sesame seed bun, plus bacon, lettuce, tomato, American cheese, ketchup, and other secret sauces.

Do you see those ingredients in there?

3 A Lot Of People Loved McDLT, But A Lot More Hated It

The idea behind the McDLT wasn't that absurd, but it simply didn't work.

On one side of the package, you would find the "cold part" of the burger (the one with the vegetables). On the "hot part", there was the other half of the burger, with the beef included, but customers didn't appreciate the effort.

2 Breakfast Burritos Weren't Eaten In The Morning, Nor At Any Time Of The Day (And We Can Understand Why)

Does that burrito look delicious? It sure doesn't, much less when we're speaking of breakfast. Nevertheless, this thing had more than 300 calories of scrambled eggs mixed with sausage, cheese, green chiles, and onions.

McDonald's stated, however, that the tortilla was very soft (too soft for our taste, right?).

1 Mighty Wings Were McDonald's Biggest Flop

Mighty Wings stopped being served very early. They came in packages of 3, 5 or 10 wings with a special spicy sauce and were said to be like "nuggets with bones"—hard to eat. Customers also said that the wings were too spicy and added nothing new to the McDonald's menu.
