When people think of romantic destinations around the globe, Walt Disney World isn’t the first place that comes to mind. Disney World is renowned for being a land of fun and magic, but few people realize how romantic it can be when the conditions are right. It’s not just the Happiest Place on Earth. With locations such as Cinderella’s Castle and Tony’s Restaurant, it is also one of the most romantic!
Not every part of Disney World is romantic, so if you want to take your partner there, you have to know where to go. But as long as you visit the right attractions and locations, it serves as the perfect backdrop for the ultimate romantic experience…and perhaps the ideal place to pop a certain question!
Keep reading to find out where you’ll find the 10 most romantic spots at Disney World.
10 Main Street
Main Street in the Magic Kingdom is one of the most classic and romantic spots in Disney World. Designed to look just like Walt Disney’s hometown of Marceline, Missouri, Main Street is like a walk into the past. As you stroll down past the souvenir stores and idyllic eateries, you’ll feel like you’ve landed in Lady and the Tramp—one of the most romantic Disney movies ever, and which was set in Marceline.
The most romantic time at Disney World is undoubtedly the firework show, and one of the best places to watch the bursts of light over the castle is from Main Street.
9 Tony’s Town Square Restaurant
Speaking of Lady and the Tramp, the most romantic and iconic scene in that movie took place in an alley behind Tony’s Italian restaurant. You know the one we’re talking about - where Lady and Tramp are sharing a bowl of spaghetti and then they unknowingly munch their way into a kiss. Disney World might not have that famous alley set up, but it does boast Tony’s Town Square Restaurant.
Located in Main Street U.S.A., you can follow in the pooches’ footsteps and share a bowl of spaghetti and meatballs with your lover.
8 Be Our Guest Restaurant
Tony’s Town Square Restaurant isn’t the only romantic eatery at Disney World. You could also try out the Be Our Guest Restaurant, which is modeled on the enchanted French Castle from Beauty and the Beast.
The best part about Be Our Guest is that it’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Of course, dinner tends to be the best time to go if you’re looking for a romantic atmosphere. It’s easy to sweep anyone off their feet when you’re eating fancy French cuisine beneath a glowing chandelier.
7 Cinderella’s Castle
When you think of romantic locations in Disney World, one place tends to spring to mind faster than any other: Cinderella’s Castle. Based on the fairy tale of Cinderella and a gothic-style European castle, this Disney landmark is like the cornerstone of the entire theme park. It’s really what everyone comes to see and it also happens to be seriously romantic.
If you’re planning on proposing at Disney World, in front of Cinderella’s Castle would be the place to do it. It’s even more magical at night when it is illuminated with lights.
6 The Mad Tea Party
We know what you’re thinking: The Mad Tea Party doesn’t sound very romantic. There was certainly nothing romantic about it in Alice in Wonderland when Alice had tea with the Mad Hatter and the March Hare. However, there is just something magical about spinning around in a giant teacup, and magic can nearly always end up being romantic!
A perfect activity for two lovers at Disney World is to hop into a teacup at the Mad Tea Party and spin around until their hearts are content.
5 The Liberty Square Riverboat
For those who appreciate a romance that’s a little more old-fashioned, the Liberty Square Riverboat is brimming with old-world charm. The half-mile journey of the Liberty Belle will take you around Tom Sawyer Island while you listen to old tales of Mark Twain’s experiences on the Mississippi.
There are plenty of romantic sights to see along the way, including peaceful woodland animals and a picturesque Native American village. This is definitely one of the more relaxing rides at Disney World, and one that’s ideal for a couple wanting to spend some quality time together.
4 The Tree Of Life
If you’re a fan of The Lion King, then you’ll probably find the Tree of Life in Disney’s Animal Kingdom to be a totally romantic spot! Standing 145 feet tall, the tree features carved shapes of more than 300 animals. It celebrates diversity and the connection associated with the Circle of Life.
Around the base of the tree are live animals, including flamingos and tortoises, roaming in and around the waterways. There is also a theater inside the root system of the tree which is the perfect place for a couple to sneak in a kiss.
3 Soarin’ Around The World
If Aladdin taught us anything, it’s that there’s nothing as romantic as flying over the world on a magic carpet with your loved one. While Disney can’t exactly offer that exact experience, they can do the next best thing. At Epcot, you will have the chance to enjoy the Soarin’ Around the World attraction, ideal for two people who are looking for a romantic adventure.
On the journey, you will fly to the Swiss Alps, the ice fields of Greenland, the iconic Sydney Harbor, the Great Wall of China, the Pyramids of Giza, and of course, the most romantic structure in the world, India’s Taj Mahal.
2 Castaway Creek
You might not have thought that the water parks at Disney World have any attractions or locations that are overly romantic, but we think that slowly drifting along Castaway Creek hand-in-hand with the love of your life is pretty romantic!
Located in Typhoon Lagoon, this attraction will allow you to laze in an inner tube and be gently carried around the flowing river that extends for 2,000 feet. Winding all the way around the water park, the creek will take you through grottos, mists, and sometimes, waterfalls.
1 The Kilimanjaro Safari
There is something inherently wonderful about witnessing live animals, like the ones you’ll see on the Kilimanjaro Safari at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Not all the creatures you see will inspire feelings of romance inside of you - especially not the lions! But it’s hard to avoid feeling sentimental as you slowly pass flamingos and pelicans!
The Kilimanjaro Safari is one of the slower attractions in the park but it is still an adventure and one that is all the more fun when you’re experiencing it with the love of your life.
