Disney World is an immersive fantasy land that allows both adults and children to indulge in a little escapism. While the rides are without a doubt its biggest draw, Disney makes sure to stuff its parks with entertainment that anyone can enjoy.

However, because Disney World is such a coveted travel destination, the parks are always congested with people and the rides wait times have people standing for literal hours. If you want to avoid that mess the next time you visit Disney World, there are at least 10 more magical things to do besides riding rides.

11 10. Enjoy The Shows

Probably the second most popular attraction other than its rides are Disney World's shows. Disney prides itself on its live entertainment spectacles that come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. The most prominent show is the one that takes place in front of Cinderella's Castle. The show various throughout the year and depends heavily on the season, but there's no question of whether one will happen or not. The castle's stage will bring out Disney's best-known characters like Mickey, Donald Duck, Goofy, and of course, the Disney princesses.

Other inside shows take place around the park such as Mickey's Philharmagic in Fantasyland and the Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage.

10 9. Window Shop

If you're a budget-friendly traveler, then there is no harm in a little window shopping. There is a collection of shops within each themed land, but none are as illustrious as those on Main Street U.S.A. The shops include the delicious Main Street Confectionery, the Emporium, and Disney Clothiers.

If you're looking for something unique or you are an avid art collector, The Art of Disney houses incredible signature pieces that you won't find anywhere else. The Chapeau is also worth checking out because it is a store that literally sells hats of any variety: top hats, baseball caps, and even Mickey ears.

9 8. Try All The Food

Disney's neverending list of food choices can be a paradise for some, and dangerous for others! If you want a delicious way to empty your pockets, go through the park and try of each of Disney's most popular snacks. From the giant Mickey Mouse pretzels to the Nutella waffles, you could spend an entire day trying out each of these treats. Start off your day with the beloved Dole Whip and try to end the day by seeing if you have what it takes to finish off an entire turkey leg!

8 7. Meet Characters

Disney's character meetups are happening all day long. There are so many, in fact, that it would be a challenge to try to get to them all in one day. Each meet up is time and schedule so that you know where and when you can meet your favorite characters. Apart from the rides and the shows, the Disney characters meetups probably cause the most traffic jams throughout the parks.

7 6. Have A Photoshoot


Don't be shy- pull out your camera! Just make sure you aren't stepping on anyone's toes. Disney World can be a gorgeous backdrop for some spectacular photoshoots. Be wary of which rides forbid flash photography, but other than that-- snap away! It's a great place for up-and-coming photographers and models to get some practice, and the pictures are almost guaranteed to come out looking magical.

The most popular place to strike a pose in the famous purple wall, which is located near the entrance of Tomorrow Land in the Magic Kingdom.

5 5. Get A Haircut

If you look to your left at the moment you enter the Magic Kingdom, you'll see a quaint beige Barber Shop with gold and maroon signage. This store isn't just for decoration, though. It's a fully functioning barber shop where Disney World guests get a snip every day! The Harmony Barber Shop is themed to represent an old-fashioned shop, but they offer the works. It actually gets pretty busy so you may need to schedule an appointment.

Haircuts are $19 for adults and $18 for children 9 and under.

4 4. Play Mini Golf

You'll have to leave the grounds of the Magic Kingdom for this one, but it's still located on Disney World property. One mini golf arena is the Disney World: Fantasia Gardens located near the Swan and Dolphin Hotel. The other is the Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course which travelers can find near Blizzard Beach. Each of these mini golf courses has two different themed sections to choose from.

The price of these putt-putt golf attractions is $12 for kids ages 3-9 and $14 for people over 10 years old.

3 3. Play The Magic Kingdom Scavenger Hunt

There is an actual on-going scavenger hunt than any park guest can participate in; all you need is your park ticket or MagicBand. It all starts at the firehouse station on Main Street. Here is where you will gather everything you need for your Sorcerers of Magic Kingdom Interactive Experience.

You will be helping Merlin (from the Sword and the Stone) find his way through the park and defeat Disney villains along the way. You'll be given Merlin's mystical map and spell cards which will help you unlock Magical Portals throughout Disney World.

2 2. Watch Live Music

Aside from the typical character-based shows happening around the park, there is simple live music playing all day long. There is the Bollywood Beat performance in Animal Kingdom, the British Revolution concert at EPCOT, and the Dapper Dans who sing their way down Main Street. You can also find a live pianist playing in Casey's Corner within Magic Kingdom.

Parades are the perfect source of entertainment for all ages. Famous Disney characters sing, dance, and even involve the crowd in their larger-than-life showcase that makes its way around Disney World. There are a bunch of themed parades happening all year, with showtimes scheduled multiple times throughout the day. Right now, for example, the Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party happens three times a day with a special Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade taking place at 3 p.m.
