Running on select night through November 1, this event lets guests experience the Magic Kingdom in all of its festive fall glory. With exciting shows, foods, and rides to experience, there's a ton to do, and we're here to guide you through it.

Here is everything you can expect from Disney World's wicked fun celebration.

10 Special Characters

It’s no secret that a big draw to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is the special characters you can meet during the event. While Gaston and Belle make appearances regularly, this is the only time of the year might get the chance to pose with characters including Moana, Jack and Sally, and all seven dwarfs from Snow White.

Just be warned that the lines for the more rare characters can get long, so it’s best to have a plan before you go. You don’t want to miss out on your favorites.

9 Lots Of Costumes

Most people who attend Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party — both adults and children — end up visiting the Magic Kingdom in costumes. This means to maximize your fun, you should definitely come your favorite Star Wars gear or Toy Story attire.

Before you go deck yourself out, though, it’s important to read Disney’s costume policy. The company discourages guests “from wearing layered costumes or costume props that surround the entire body as they may be subject to additional security screening.” The parks are also against masks and weapons, so do yourself a favor and check the costume requirements before you show up.

8 Early Admission

The park doesn’t close for the party until around 6 p.m., and the party doesn’t start until 7 p.m. That being said, guests with tickets to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party can enter the park at 4 p.m. We recommend showing up early, as its great time to go on a few attractions before the rest of the fun begins. After all, you don’t want to spend your entire party time riding rides you can easily access on any other day at the park.

If you do happen to have regular theme park admission, you might find the crowds to be lighter on the day of the parties because the Magic Kingdom closes so early.

7 Trick-Or-Treating

When you enter the Magic Kingdom, you’ll be given a small bag. This is for trick-or-treating.

Across the park, there are several locations to get candy, as designated by the orange Mickey heads on the map. Though many guests start the party by heading to the trick-or-treat locations, you’ll find shorter lines and potentially get more candy if you go later in the evening. Either way, scouting out treats is a fun way to celebrate the season.

6 Fireworks, Shows, and Parades

One of the best things about Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is the crazy amounts of entertainment scattered throughout the park. There's a Monsters, Inc. dance party,  a Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, a spooky parade, a massive firework show, and more. Pick what you want to tackle before you get to the park in order to experience the most.

One thing that is worth noting is that the parade — which features the famous Headless Horseman — runs twice during the night, at 9:15 p.m. and 11 p.m. Though we can't guarantee it, the second of the two shows tends to be less crowded.

5 Spooky Foods

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is home to many exclusive Disney snacks that you can only access during the special event. While a few fall-themed treats can be bought all day, including the incredible pumpkin spice milkshake at Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies in Tomorrowland, certain snacks — like the Jack and Sally push cake pops — are only available during party hours.

If you love uploading photos of your food to Instagram as much as you enjoy eating it, you won’t want to miss out on the party-exclusive treats.

4 Specially Themed Attractions

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween party offers more than festive foods, shows, fireworks, and candy (if you can believe it). This year's party is also giving certain rides makeovers.

The Pirates of the Caribbean boat ride is adding live-action characters to the mix, the Mad Tea Party is getting special lighting and music, and even Space Mountain is going completely dark and adding a spooky soundtrack. New to 2019 is a specially themed Monsters, Inc Laugh Floor experience.

3 Varied Crowds

It's worth noting that the crowds at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween party vary from night to night. Certain days, such as Halloween itself, have also been known to sell out while Mondays in September, for example, are on the lighter side. The best indicator of how crowded a night will be is the ticket price. If tickets are more expensive on a certain night, it's probably because there will be more crowds that night.

Either way, it's recommended you get your tickets early rather than buying them at the door.

2 Exclusive Merchandise

If you’re big on Halloween and Disney souvenirs, you won’t want to ignore the special merchandise available only during the party. Items are available at The Emporium on Main Street and at Big Top Souvenirs in Fantasyland, while themed pins are sold at Frontier Trading Post in Frontierland.

This year’s party merch includes a spiderweb-covered vest, a spooky MagicBand, Hocus Pocus Mickey ears, cauldron mugs, and more.

1 Special Events

If you’re looking to upgrade your event experience even more, you should know that there are special events that take place inside this specially ticketed event. While many guests find the party to provide enough entertainment on its own, we can’t talk about Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party without at least mentioning the add-ons.

Disney’s extra-fee events include a dessert party with a special viewing area for fireworks, as well as Cruella De Vil dining experience. Whether you add on one of these options or choose to skip them, your visit to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is sure to be spooktacular.
