Of the two Disneyland Resort parks, California Adventure is more focused on high action, fast-paced thrill rides. For example, The Little Mermaid ride takes you flying through Ariel’s aquatic adventure at over two miles per hour. The whiplash you suffer is worth hearing just a second of Sebastian’s iconic voice. Seriously though, there are a ton of fun rides to choose from in California Adventure, which is why today we’ll be ranking the top ten of them. Let’s jump right into it.

10 Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree
Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree is one of the calmer rides in California Adventure, which sees mater swinging you around as you drive in circles. While this ride obviously doesn’t compete with some of the more intense rides offered in California Adventure… the line does. Being able to hop into this ride and only wait for ten minutes makes it just clinch the lowest spot on the list.
9 The Little Mermaid
The Little Mermaid is one of the Disney rides that takes you through a movie, with you following Ariel’s adventure on this one. There isn’t much to it, and this one has virtually no wait times at all, making it a nice candidate to ride when you need some air conditioning and just really need to hear a crab sing at you as soon as possible. One of life’s less indulged upon pleasures.
8 The Ferris Wheel
The Ferris Wheel on Pixar Pier is, well it certainly is a Ferris Wheel, so if you like those you’re in luck. This Ferris Wheel comes in two varieties, non-swinging for the weenies and swinging for the edgy kids.
No matter which side you choose to ride, you get a fantastic view of California Adventure as you reach the peak, which is obviously enough to make this one a must-ride.
7 Goofy’s Sky School
Literally the worst ride. Truly it’s just the worst. But also so fun? This weird little rollercoaster is essentially a track made to give you whiplash as many times as possible in a five minute time period. It exceeds in its goal. About 80% of the track is just turning at breakneck speed, with the other 20% being spent wondering why it was you got on this ride in the first place. While this ride is truly ridiculous, for some reason you’ll probably find yourself getting on it more than once during your trip.
6 Grizzly River Run
California Adventure’s answer to angry wet people in a theme park, Grizzly River Run. This volatile ride has you shooting down a river and getting soaked along the way. It is a much faster ride overall than Splash Mountain, and you don’t have to listen to racist birds sing at you through half of it, so that’s nice. With much more potential to get soaked than Splash Mountain (you literally travel through a waterfall), this is certainly a popular ride to cool off in the summer.
5 Toy Story Midway Mania!
Toy Story Midway Mania! is the better version of Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters from Disneyland. After putting on a pair of glasses, you’re treated to an interactive game that pits you against the player you’re sitting with. All of the games are classic carnival games, such as breaking plates as you’re being yelled at by toy soldiers and throw the ring around the alien. While it always has a bit of a long wait, Toy Story Mania is a fun ride that is a bit different from the other thrills California Adventure has to offer.
4 Soarin’ Over California
Soarin’ Over California (or the world, depending on which version of the ride is currently in circulation) is a ride that has you take a virtual trip through the skies of California. The ride takes you all around the state and really makes you feel immersed on the ride you’re taking.
As you are flying around you’re accompanied by the wind and smells of the locations you’re in, really helping to sell the whole experience. The whole ride is also hosted by Patrick Warburton, so like yeah we’re ALL in.
3 Radiator Springs Racers
Radiator Springs Racers, based off the Cars universe, is a thrilling ride that has you participating in a race with another car. The first portion of the ride has you getting to the race and pimping your ride a bit, meeting all the expected characters as you travel through the town. Afterward, you race as fast as you can, with one of the cars winning at random. If you’re a fan of wait times exceeding seven hours somehow even though the park hasn’t even opened yet, this is certainly a ride you’ll want to check out.
2 The Incredicoaster
The Incredicoaster is without a doubt the best rollercoaster in both Disneyland and California Adventure. While this ride only narrowly bests Radiator Springs due to its shorter wait times, it is an absolute blast in its own right. The rollercoaster has you sit there and not help at all as all of the Incredibles attempt to grab Jack-Jack after Edna loses him immediately after being tasked with watching him. While the entire concept is fun to watch play out, you’ll likely be focused on the incredible speed and huge drops that you’re flying through during the ride. Going upside down and all around, the Incredicoaster is an incredibly fun ride, being bested by only one other in all of California Adventure.
1 Guardians Of The Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT!
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY - MISSION: BREAKOUT! OOF! What a ride! Renovated from the older Tower of Terror, this ride is a dropper ride that tasks you with helping Rocket break the other Guardians out of entrapment, with different scenarios occurring each time you ride. The ride takes you up and drops you down many times throughout the ride, and coming completely off of your seat and floating in the air for a moment is par for the course here. The ride never gets old, with the feeling you get during the first drop never getting any less shocking. If you can only ride one ride on your trip to Disneyland, this is the one to pick.
