There are many diners in the United States that have closed down or were totally ignored, and that's a shame to hear about. Diners are an important part of a country's culture as they reflect a simpler way of life and the way that things used to be. Today, we're all busy running around all day long and we can never stop looking at our phones, but back in the day, people would gather in diners on a daily basis and enjoy a milkshake and burger and fries.

While we can grab a burger at many amazing restaurants in the United States, there's nothing like a burger from a classic diner. Thankfully, there are tons of diners left in the U.S. and many of them look exactly the same as '50s-style restaurants. These retro diners will make us feel like we traveled back in time.

White Mana Diner

There are many beautiful places that we can see around the world on a road trip. It would also be fun to go on a road trip to find some old-school diners.

White Mana Diner is a fun retro diner that opened in 1946. According to Car Rentals, the diner is located in Jersey City and has amazing burgers. The exterior of the diner has a very no-frills, old-fashioned vibe, and if you didn't know, you really would think that it was still the 1950's when you pulled up here in your car. Sit at the counter and order a glass of coke and a burger, and you'll definitely feel like you were still in that decade.

According to NY.eater.com, the diner started at the World's Fair that took place in Flushing Meadows, Queens in 1939. The publication explains, "The flying-saucer-like building moved across the river in 1946, the menu still intact, and has been frying 3,000 burgers a week ever since." A reviewer on Yelp said there's a $7 special that includes a soda, fries, and three sliders, which is an incredible value. This isn't a place to get a fancy burger with bacon and peanut butter -- you're going to want to stick to the classics, which this place has found a lot of success with.

The Bluebird Diner In Iowa City Has A Charming Name And Fun Decor

Thrillist put The Bluebird Diner on its list of the greatest American diners and we definitely wish that we could eat there. Grab a table and enjoy breakfast, lunch, or diner here. For breakfast, you can get Cinnamon Roll French Toast, and while the decor is retro, the menu has modernized a bit as you can get gluten-free pancakes.  You can order cheeseburgers, BLTs, grilled cheese sandwiches, and red beans and rice for lunch or dinner.

According to The Gazette, the diner has been around since 2008 and Thomas Connolly, one of the owners, said, "We’ve been embraced by the community — very grateful for that. We’ve tried to create a better quality of food, priced reasonably.” It's really cool to learn that this is a fairly new restaurant as the retro feeling is super strong.

While the place looks so old-school that you might have to remind yourself that it's 2020, you can order some food and drink that will remind you of the good old days. Get a Dreamsicle, which is an orange soda float, or a Root Beer Float or try a homemade dessert.

We love the look of these retro diners in the United States and would totally pull up a chair at the counter, ready to enjoy a delicious breakfast or juicy burger.
