The push and pull. The twisting and the turning. The adrenaline. The suspense. The danger. The knot in the stomach. All these and more may make you believe that roller coasters, the crowning feature of most amusement parks, are the least patronized. Yet this is far from it. There’s a thrill; a dance with danger, that we all strangely adore. Or maybe it’s the feeling of being airborne, the kind that we’ve always enjoyed from the days of being tossed up in the air by our parents. This and others are what would define a typical family outing at Ohio’s Cedar Point, voted consistently among the best amusement parks in the US. Yet Cedar Point isn’t just about roller coaster rides. Though choosing the best ride, or just picking any, may look like solving differential calculus. Apart from just being a theme park, Cedar Point boasts several other family-friendly attractions.
Cedar Point Roller Coaster Rides For 2022
Cedar Point boasts of being the roller coaster capital of the world. That sounds like blowing your own trumpet. Something we tend to frown upon. Yet in Cedar Point’s case, with an impressive 17 unique roller coasters, second only to California’s Six Flags, you’d be hard-pressed to deny the devil his due. According to Statista 2022 rankings, Top Thrill Dragster, Cedar Points 128-meters high ride, is the second-highest roller coaster ride on the planet. But don’t make travel plans yet. Not for Top Thrill Dragster this year. In August 2021, a piece of metal broke off from the coaster and fell on the head of a middle-aged woman who was waiting her turn on the coaster. Ohio Department of Agriculture prescribed some repairs before the Top Thrill Dragster could fly back to life. And Wicked Twister, one of Cedar Park’s signature rides, and the world’s then tallest double-twisting impulse coaster—has also been retired.
But this information should put no hamper on the spirits of roller coaster enthusiasts. There are still many chilling and thrilling rides to choose from. Many will still swear that the Steel Vengeance is the best hybrid coaster on the planet. This ride takes 2 minutes and a half; takes you 205 feet high through some scary inversions, twists, and turns—before plunging you 200 feet down at a 90-degree angle. Maverick, Millennium Force, GateKeeper, and Valravn are other top Cedar Point coaster rides. Valravn is particularly a wild hit. According to Cedar Point, this is the tallest, fastest, longest dive coaster in the United States. It involves an over-the-edge dangle that’ll graze the nerves of the boldest. It’s a 2-minute and 23 seconds affair of heavenly hell. On the other end, the defining feature of the GateKeeper is its side wings that give the ride the impression of a dangling, circling, aerial open-field.

Other Family Fun Activities At Cedar Park For 2022
For families with kids, it may sound disappointing that your kids won’t enjoy the thrill of roller coaster rides. There’s a minimum height a rider must be. Yet Cedar Point is hugely famous for family fun. So what’s the secret? Kids can still have a blast at Camp Snoopy, Planet Snoopy, and the Kiddy Kingdom, the three areas with many fun-filled activities designated for kids. All these areas are great for kids-geared fun—but Camp Snoopy tends to be a family’s favorite. There are car rides, mini trains, and road rallies. To prove that Cedar Point is intentional with family fun, there’s a Family Care Center right next to Planet Snoopy. There are also baby-changing facilities and infant feeding areas—all to ensure parents have the best experience. One popular kids’ activity will be missing from the menu this year: The Antique Cars ride. A new restaurant will stand in its former place. However, with the Cadillac Cars Ride still on and revving up, there should be no cloud of a disappointment for the youngsters.
Other family attractions include the regular live entertainments that’ll leave your kids mesmerized in a performance that involves talented dancers and a broad range of musical styles and genres. While the management of Cedar Point has not released a 2022 schedule yet, there are signs the shows are returning after the pandemic hiatus. Also, a partnership with Field Motor Sports enabled the staging of Monster Jam Thunder Alley, a thrilling ride inside a monster track—before the pandemic. We hope it’ll be making its way back. Of course, for food and refreshments, Cedar Point will leave you confused with its many delicious, mouth-watering offers.
Families should look out for the change in pricing this year. For instance, adult passes that used to cost $75 will now be $85, but only $45 if purchased online—in a now completely cashless system. Finally, don’t kids just love water! You can cool down at the Cedar Point Shores Waterpark where your kids will enjoy Lakeslide Landing, among other water park activities. A visit to Cedar Point should be on your bucket list. It's one of the amusement parks that defy all logic yet is worth every penny.
