Heading out in the rural areas of West Texas, towards Big Bend National Park, travelers will find charming 3-star hotels in Marfa and Marathon. Take a look at the beautiful hotels that will make travelers fall in love with West Texas.

Hotel Paso Del Norte, El Paso

The Hotel Paso del Norte Autograph Collection is a gem of the American Southwest and has a rich cultural history. The 4-star hotel in downtown El Paso is instantly recognizable for its iconic domed, stained-glass ceiling over the bar area. The rooms are clean with modern decor, and the bathrooms are spacious. On check-in, guests receive a complimentary glass of champagne which only elevates the experience.

One of the city’s most recognizable landmarks, Hotel Paso del Norte, has welcomed countless famous guests throughout its more than 100 years in existence. Former president G.H.W. Bush, Amelia Earhart, Gloria Swanson, and Eleanor Roosevelt are among the prominent figures who have stayed there.

Hotel Saint George, Marfa

The small town of Marfa, Texas, has a surprising number of beautiful hotel options to meet visitors' needs. One of the best places to stay in town is Hotel Saint George, a quaint 3-star hotel that is centrally located on South Highland Avenue. The rooms are extremely spacious, with a large desk to use as a workspace.

The hotel bar is a lively spot to hang out in the evenings, and the hotel also has its own restaurant called LaVenture. Breakfast at the hotel is served in the bar/dining area with a variety of choices and generous portions.

The Gage Hotel, Marathon

If unique accommodation is travelers’ primary reason for exploring the world, then The Gage Hotel in Marathon, Texas, is the place to go. This hotel is the highlight of the tiny town of Marathon, which is the gateway to Big Bend National Park. The Gage Hotel is spread out over multiple buildings, providing guests with different experiences and decor styles in each space. We stayed in the Los Portales rooms, which are all distinctly decorated in an old western style. They feature covered porches surrounding a scenic interior courtyard. The rooms are finished with Saltillo tile floors, cowhide rugs, and antique Mexican double doors that are one-of-a-kind, making each space unique.

Guests can also book accommodation in the Historic Hotel or up the street (away from the main hotel building) in the Captain Shepherd House or Casitas. These offsite rooms are best suited to groups or wedding parties. For individual travelers or couples, consider booking in the hotel building or Los Portales for walkable access to the hotel’s restaurants. The 12 Gage is an upscale dinner spot, while V6 is a cute café and breakfast spot. The Gage Hotel is also a beautiful choice for destination weddings.

Hotel Paisano, Marfa

Located in the artsy town of Marfa is another beautiful 3-star hotel that will make travelers feel like they’re stepping back in time. Hotel Paisano is famous for being the home to the cast and crew of the movie “Giant,” which it filmed in Marfa back in 1955. The hotel has since become a living piece of memorabilia of this experience, with artifacts from that time on display and photos of Elizabeth Taylor and James Dean on the walls.

The lobby has a rustic charm that suits the small-town atmosphere of Marfa perfectly. The courtyard outside the hotel restaurant/bar area boasts an idyllic fountain, and the bar itself, Jett’s, claims to have the best margaritas in Marfa.
