Coming out of a relationship isn’t easy, even for the best of us. Luckily, air travel has made it so much easier to just get away and come to peace with yourself, and to help you forget the past.

Check out this list of the top 10 countries to visit when you are newly single and see which ones you would travel to, if this situation were to ever arise!
Mexico may come as a surprise to many, but it is in fact one of the best countries to visit when single, not to mention, newly single. This is due to the party atmosphere of cities such as Cancun and Puerto Vallarta.
Let’s take Cancun. White, sandy beaches, some of the bluest water you will ever see, and most importantly, the sun. Try some new water sports like kayaking or windsurfing during the day, and hit the bars at night! Perfect.
The Land Down Under is made up of perhaps one of the most diversified landscapes on the planet. Just like Cancun, and, actually, all of the Mexican coast, Australia’s coast boasts some of the best beaches worldwide, clear waters, white sand and warm sun.
Along with simply magnificent national parks a short drive inland, some incredible man-made sights, and a vibrant nightlife, Australia is the perfect place to take your mind off everything and just enjoy.
Greece has recently launched added flights to and from the country, which, in turn, connects it to more of the world. Yes, Greece has its problems, but as a tourist, the historical sights far outweigh these negatives.
From the Acropolis to the Parthenon to some of Mother Nature’s best work, Vouliagmeni and Thessaloniki, Greece is a must-visit for any new single. Not to mention the array of islands scattered throughout the Aegean Sea, just off the coast of Athens. Mykonos, Ios, Crete, Santorini... the list really goes on.
7 New Zealand
Even further south than Australia, New Zealand is a country that presents limitless natural adventures from the North Island right to the bottom of the South. Everywhere you look, you will be rewarded with a spectacular view of a lake, snow-capped mountain, lush green forest or a cute town.
Head to Wellington, where you can participate in thrill-seeking activities that are sure to clear your heard of any relationship woes; bungee jumping, zip-lining or white water rafting, among others!
Ah, Italia. Drawing over 60 million visitors in 2018, Italy is one of the best and easiest destinations to get to, especially from the US, as it is very central between the States and rest of Europe. It is also home to many historical sights, buonissimo food and wine (arguably the best in the world), as well as a wide variety of churches, cathedrals and none other than Vatican City!
If you prefer the beach as a means of taking your mind off recent events, then head to the Amalfi Coast, Bari, Naples or Sicily, where you’ll find quaint towns dotted along the coast with adorable beaches and quality nightlife.
Two streets over from Italy is Spain. Much like Italy, it is a country with many different attractions, world-class food and wine, and a very vibrant culture. If you enjoy clearing your head by living life on the edge, then head to Pamplona and participate in the running of the bulls, or the festivities of tomato throwing (yep, that’s a real thing).
Or, you might prefer to sightsee and relax by the beach; there's no shortage of opportunities for this too. Just be aware that one half of the Spanish coastline is on the Atlantic, so while the sun is warm and beaches are amazing, the water is a bit chilly. If you’re looking for a mix of beach, sun, party, repeat, then there is no question you will want to head to Ibiza.
The fact that Switzerland is landlocked works in its favor. Surrounded by snow-capped Alps wherever you look, the sights of this beautiful country are enough to take your mind off anything, therefore it is the perfect place to travel all year round. With hot, sunny summer days and cold, snowy winters, there is no bad time to travel here.
What’s more, Switzerland could be considered an upgraded Amalfi Coast; warm sun with pristine lakes, lined with quaint yet stunning towns afoot towering mountains. This really is the place to go if you need a break with no distractions, simply peace and tranquility.
3 Costa Rica
Widely considered the happiest place on Earth, Costa Rica is a perfect mix of amazing beaches and dense forest just waiting to be explored. Much like Switzerland, it is not overcrowded, and is more for people wanting a peaceful getaway to put their mind back on track.
With activities such as white-water rafting, zip-lining through the rainforest, hiking the many trails, or relaxing in the hot springs of Arenal, if this doesn’t clear your mind of the past, then nothing will. Here, you can be one with nature, bringing your body and soul to absolute harmony.
The Netherlands may be one of the best places to visit after a break-up. Why? Because the Dutch are well-known for their welcoming hospitality and laid-back culture. From exploring the canals of Amsterdam by bicycle, to amazing natural gardens and long, distant plains, this country could not offer anything more to help you recover.
The best part is, much of the population speaks excellent English, so you won't have to worry about a language barrier!
Back to the Americas, this time in Panama, a country that features pretty much everything. From a vibrant old-town in Casco Viejo, featuring hip nightlife, colonial-style architecture and many historic churches, to the famous Panama Canal, to world-class beaches on the San Blas Islands.
If you want to stay on the mainland, check out Monkey Island, where the fun, playful animals are sure to melt your heart and help you forget about the recent past.
