New York City is one of the most iconic places in the world. It's filled with landmarks, restaurants, stores and attractions that people travel from all over to see and that can’t be found anywhere else.
There are, of course, the go-to destinations to check out in this city, such as the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty, but there are also some locales that make for awesome Instagram pics… which, we know, is super important. So if anyone is heading to NYC, be sure to keep these ideas in mind for some fab social media photos!
10 Central Park
Central Park is very notable, as it spans over 800 acres, has been featured in numerous shows and movies and is visited by millions of people each year. There are several iconic spots within this park, such as the Bethesda Terrace and Fountain, the Central Park Carousel and the Alice in Wonderland Margaret Delacorte Memorial.
While any of these recognizable features would make for a great snapshot, there really is no such thing as a bad photo here! The natural elements, the skyline, the many bridges… This is like an Instagrammer's playground.
9 Washington Square Park
Another well-known park in the city is Washington Square Park. While it's certainly not as large as Central Park, it does have some very key landmarks: the Washington Square Arch and the fountain.
These are two beautiful structures found in a beautiful place where beautiful people go to hang out, and they, too, will create some eye-catching photography moments. Plus, the arch sort of acts like a frame itself, showing off the buildings behind it... so feel free to get artsy with it!
Up next is one of the most photographed areas in the city: Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass or DUMBO. This is a go-to place when it comes to NYC photo ops, specifically when it comes to the Manhattan Bridge, as seen from Washington Street.
The reddish-brown buildings that looks like a runway, that architectural wonder sitting up tall and straight, and the skyscrapers in the back would all make for an interesting picture. You're bound to get some likes and comments.
7 Coney Island
Coney Island offers up beaches, a boardwalk and two amusement parks, meaning there are tons of whimsical and colorful places for pics. For rides, there are icons like the Wonder Wheel and the Cyclone, which is the oldest wooden roller coasters in the country.
For events, there is the Mermaid Parade. For food, there is Nathan and his famous hot dogs. All of this is fun, but remember to stop and take time to snap a photo or 20 or 1,000 while at this iconic place in the New York City area.
The highest concentration in the Western Hemisphere of Chinese people can be found in Chinatown. That being said, there are some very authentic stores and eating establishments here, where locals and visitors can buy unique products, try new foods and learn more about a new culture.
And this also means that some very vibrant and intriguing pictures can be taken, as well! This is a top destination in the city, and the buildings and decor, with their Chinese themes and styles, can add real pops to pics.
5 Little Italy
On a similar note, there is Little Italy, with its emphasis on Italian shops and restaurants. This is another area that people, those who live in New York and those who are just visiting, love to explore, especially since there is nothing quite like an authentic Italian meal.
After enjoying some pasta, find some energy, and be sure to pull out that phone or camera, because the images that can be captured here will surely become fan favorites after being posted online.
4 The Metropolitan Museum
Since 1872, the Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York City has existed. It is the biggest art museum in the nation and one of the most visited art museums on the planet, boasting two million pieces.

Yes, the inside of The Met is certainly something to experience, but the exterior is pretty special, too. Those grand stairs can make for some grand photos to share on Instagram, especially for fans of Gossip Girl, since Blair and Serena used to eat on The Met steps!
3 The Guggenheim
Another popular museum in New York is the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. Like The Met, there are certainly spectacular things to see inside, from the artwork to the intriguing design elements seen on the interior portions.
But many know of this art museum because of its exterior architecture; the unique shape was created by the renowned Frank Lloyd Wright (an architect with many famous buildings out there), and the unique shape looks amazing in any and all pictures.
2 The High Line
The High Line is 1.45 miles long. It is an elevated park. It is known as an example of contemporary landscape architecture. And it was created on what used to be part of the New York Central Railroad.
This means that while visiting this spot, people can see its exposed and historical rail trail! This attraction makes for a nice walk, a nice way to enjoy nature, a nice way to see the city at a new height and a nice spot for social media pictures, of course.
1 Times Square
Last but not least, there is Times Square, which is one of the most known and most visited locales in the whole wide world. The many, many colorful and moving billboards and ads light up this area like a disco ball, and there are popular stores, such as the Disney Store and M&M's World, as well as popular places to eat, like Hard Rock Cafe and Planet Hollywood.
All the lights and people make a truly urban and artsy background for everything from simple selfies to elegant wedding photoshoots!
