10 10. THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was the first really immersive theme park experience that made fans feel like they were actually in the world. This theme park did so well that it has inspired others like it including Galaxy’s Edge and the upcoming Avenger’s Campus. This Harry Potter world can be found in two locations, making it perfect for U.S. fans. You can check it out in Orlando or in Anaheim. Fans of Harry Potter can’t get enough of how realistic this experience feels.

9 9. NEW ZEALAND

For fans of The Lord of the Rings, there’s one place that people just have to check out. New Zealand might be an entire country, but there are so many great places to see here for fans of the series that it’s hard to pick just one. The entire trilogy was filmed here, and there are many tours you can do to check out filming locations in the area.

Going to see Hobbiton is one of the most popular designations as the set is still there in Waikato. You can also check out the Weta Cave museum or go to Mackenzie County to see where the Pelennor Fields location was filmed.

For Marvel fans in the United States, one of the best places to get up close and personal with props from the movies is actually at an exhibit in Las Vegas. While you’re in Vegas enjoying the other sights and buildings, you can go to the Treasure Planet hotel for Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. This exhibit has interactive games and experiences, but the best part of it is the fact that you can see many props and costumes from the show. These include some of Iron Man’s suit, the capsule Captain America was made in, and much more.

New York City is a huge place that has a variety of things to see and do, making it ideal for all kinds of people. But, what many people don’t realize is that there are many nerdy things to do here. First of all, you can check out Midtown Comics which is one of the largest comic book stores in the world. Also, the great thing about New York City is that there are so many filming locations here from movies. For example, Grand Central Station was used in filming The Avengers. Also, there are many other nerd stores including Nintendo World.

6 6. GAME OF THRONES ICELAND TOUR

There are many places around the world that you can check out for Game of Thrones filming locations. But, one of the best of these, is to head to Iceland. Many of the areas beyond the Wall were filmed here including White Walker scenes. There are walking and coach tours in the area that will take you to many of these locations. You can start from Reykjavik. Reynisfjara Beach has striking black sand and was also used in the show.

5 5. ZOMBIE SURVIVAL EXPERIENCE IN ENGLAND

For fans of The Walking Dead, or just of zombies in general, one of the most exciting things to get to do is experience what a zombie apocalypse might be like, without all the horrible parts. There is a notable Zombie Survival Experience in Reading, England that last half a day and occurs in an abandoned shopping mall. There are also many other cities around the world that have started doing similar events, so you can look up and see if there are any in your area.

While themed events and filming locations are definitely extremely cool to check out, some nerds have broader interests. If you are fascinated by how pop culture impacts the world, or just into a lot of pop culture things, you should check out the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle, Washington.
