So, how did they do it? To gather data on the best places to watch a sunrise and sunset, the geniuses at mornings.co.uk used TripAdvisor's "Things To Do" option to search for the keywords “sunset” and “sunrise” in each country of the world and in every US state. After extensive searches and sifting through masses of data, they deemed the places with the highest number of "sunset" and "sunrise" mentions in their public reviews as the best places to catch the sunset or sunrise.

To increase the accuracy of their analysis and the resulting data, the team removed any destination that included “sunrise” or “sunset” in its name from the dataset, as well as eliminating any attractions offering excursions, experiences, and tours to locations around these places. This means that the locations with the highest mentions - and thus branded the best sunrise and sunset spots - were restricted to physical locations, such as buildings, beaches, mountain peaks, and other public areas.
