What To Explore
The Serpentine Bench
The Ceramic Serpent Bench is a famous marble mosaic seat that weaves its length around Park Güell's patio. It was made with the Trencands style, which Gaud devised and popularised throughout Catalonia's modernist and surrealist phases.
The bench was constructed using ceramic tiles from a nearby factory in a characteristic serpentine pattern with varied brilliant hues for a dramatic effect. The Serpentine Bench is both aesthetic and useful providing a stylish place to relax and soak in the park's splendor.
Laundry Room Portico
Visitors enter the Laundry Room Porch by going west through Natural Plaza and down a tiny stairway. Another wonderful illustration of Gaudi's ability to incorporate the natural surroundings into his creations is the Laundry Room Portico. These tunnels were created to integrate the future residences in a fashion that didn't stick out and just blended in with the slope. In the sweltering hot weather strolling beneath the porticos is just like enjoying a breather.

The Dragon Stairway
This exquisite dual staircase of stairs emerges from the entryway to the Hypostyle Chamber. The staircase is composed of three layers, with a fountain flowing along one side and a different element marking each step on the way to the top.
The first step includes goblin figurines, the insignia of Catalan is higher above, and the third level has a ceramic mosaic tile amphibian.
The Hypostyle Room
The Dragon Staircase leads to the Hypostyle Hall is a massive chamber. The entire room is anchored by eighty-six striped pillars, the outermost of which slant in a meandering pattern, defying conventional design norms. The Hypostyle room's roof is composed of miniature domes constructed of classic bricks that are coated in stunning ceramic floor mosaic designs.
- Fact: This wide-open area was developed as a sheltered market for the region's future residents and is still used as a supermarket for all of Catalonia now.
Gaudi Museum
Gaudi Home Museum is one of the park's main houses, now features a museum dedicated to the renowned artist's life and career. Francesc Mestres built Gaudi's residence, which he resided in from 1906 to 1925. There are several Gaudi furnishing designs on display as well as some of his prospective building models.
It's a beautiful house to wander around the outside of and imagine how Gaudi might spend most of his time when dwelling here, as well as drawing inspiration from the grounds for future designs.
The Sagrada Familia
Even though the creation of the Sagrada Familia started in 1882, Gaudi did not become engaged until 1883 when he took over the design and transformed it into his art form blending Romanesque, and curvilinear Neoclassicism features.
