Traveling with kids isn't always easy. As parents know, one toddler meltdown can throw off the whole day's itinerary. Which is why resorts are perfect for families with kids of all ages.

You hardly have to leave the property (unless you want to), and there are tons of activities for the kids to do while you're there.

And what better spot to travel as a family than Mexico? The tropical weather, abundance of beaches, and cheap exchange rate means an affordable vacay everyone will always remember.

Even better, there are a select few resorts in Mexico that people don't seem to know about. Read on for insider secrets on the most overlooked Mexican resorts for families, and start packing!

Disney-Endorsed Paradisus Cancun

Did you know Disney has an exclusive travel club? Whether you're hopping on one of their cruises or stopping at their theme parks, Disney totally delivers everything families love: good food, good entertainment, and a sprinkle of magic.

So it's not surprising that the Disney-endorsed Paradisus Cancun resort is an excellent spot for family fun. We're not sure why the five-star hotel hasn't gotten more attention for its family concierge services (you get a butler!), kids' playground, teen-friendly computer/game room, and even a children's spa.

They'll even bring a PlayStation to your room if the kids need some downtime!

St. Regis Mexico City

Yes, most families venture to Mexico for the beaches. But give St. Regis Mexico City a chance, and we promise you won't be disappointed.

The Marriott-owned property has luxury accommodations, stunning city views, and makes for easy access to all kinds of kid-friendly Mexico City attractions. The rooms are pet-friendly, too.

Local attractions that totally make up for the lack of beaches include the Chapultepec Zoo, history and modern art museums, and, of course, the giant CDMX sign for Insta snaps.

Plus, you can take an Uber (or public transportation) about 10 miles to KidZania Cuicuilco or even Six Flags!

Urban families will love the attractions around CDMX, and St. Regis really seems to care about kids' experiences there (just peep the customized kiddo tent above!).

Grand Velas Riviera Maya

If you're really looking for a luxury vacay that's still kid-friendly, you can't go wrong with Grand Velas. Though it carries a kid-friendly label on travel sites, it doesn't seem to be talked about a lot.

Seriously, though, this place offers a "baby concierge" through which you can arrange nanny services. You can also get all the baby necessities with just a phone call. What's not to love?

You can choose the Ambassador Ambiance experience, which offers suites with Jacuzzi tubs, home-style amenities like sitting rooms, and proximity to the Kids' Club and Teens' Club (also the fitness center).

Beach games and bike rides are also part of the fun at Grand Velas, but you can send your children off to the age-appropriate kids' clubs for some parent-only time, too.

Rosewood San Miguel de Allende

Change can sometimes be tough for kids, so going somewhere they don't speak the language might present a challenge. At the same time, parents want to go somewhere that feels exotic and has all the luxury amenities that make it really feel like vacation.

The solution? Stay at Rosewood San Miguel de Allende. It's an inland resort in the expat-friendly city of San Miguel de Allende. Tons of transplants from the US and elsewhere wind up here, and the picturesque city streets are to die for.

This five-star resort is the ideal central location from which to explore the vibrant city. Parque Benito Juarez is nearby, as are botanical gardens and all kinds of other family-friendly attractions.

Globe Totting highly recommends the Museo La Esquina for its impressive range of traditional Mexican toys from over the years. This three-floor museum contains over a thousand toys that kids can check out. They also have classes and workshops, so see what's on the schedule when you visit.

Biking and hiking tours are another highlight for more active kiddos, and you can't skip the dulces (and conchas!) at local bakeries.

Los Colibris Casitas

Las Colibris Casitas is a smaller resort destination in Baja California.

This spot has everything for the whole family. Crystal-clear ocean views and tropical vibes for mom and dad, and tons of excursion options for kids. There's an onsite cafe, cooking classes, and even luxury tent camping if your fam is so inclined. Of course, the adorable casitas are our top pick, and they're perfect for keeping the kids' noise away from your neighbors, too!

In the area of Todos Santos, you can schedule excursions that involve camping, birding, swimming with whale sharks, kayaking, hiking, paddle boarding, cooking lessons, horseback riding, and more!

Whether it's art, surfing, or simply lounging you're in the market for, Los Colibris Casitas is the perfect place to bring the whole family.
