Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right? At least, that's what we've told ourselves for all of these years. Somehow, by repeating this mantra, society has formed an unbreakable bond with breakfast which means that it should be delicious, filling, and not entirely healthy... Because, of course, all of those extra calories can definitely be burned off during the day.

With that being said, we're back at it again with a definitive ranking of the best fast-food breakfast sandwiches. It's nearly impossible to go to a fast-food restaurant and not be confronted with a breakfast menu, no matter how little room it takes up in the grand scheme of menus. However, since breakfast is so important, it's better to eat something than nothing at all. Impressively, many of the world's fast-food breakfast sandwiches aren't anything to shake a stick at... especially if they're one of these tasty delights.

Wendy's: Breakfast Baconator

Let's just admit it: Wendy's is good all around. While a breakfast sandwich isn't the menu item that people often head to Wendy's for (or maybe it is, who knows), the Breakfast Baconator is a new take on an oldish favorite.

The Baconator had rave success when it first came out so, of course, the idea of adding an egg to the mix was undoubtedly a good one. Rather than getting a conventional, cardboard-like egg sandwich, this one is topped with a fried egg along with an extra helping of cheese. While brunch burgers are now a thing on every brunch menu, Wendy's was cookin' 'em and servin' 'em up before the concept even caught on with the higher-end restaurants... Or, at least, that's what we're standing by.

Subway: Bacon, Egg, And Cheese

Hear us out on this one. According to Thrillest, this sandwich makes the top five, at least. Subway fans know that there's something about the chain's fresh bread that makes its sandwiches that much better and the bacon, egg, and cheese is no exception.

This breakfast sandwich also tends to lean on the healthier side (as is Subway's nature) with egg whites as opposed to full-on eggs. The best option, by far, is to have it on the Italian herbs and cheese bread because there's something about the way that melted cheese seeps into the bread with an accompaniment of eggs and bacon. It's simple, yet totally satisfying in the early morning hours.

Chick-Fil-A: Chicken Biscuit

We don't need to spend a bunch of time talking highly about Chick-Fil-A's chicken since anyone who has ever stepped foot into one of these restaurants can attest to the fact that it's heavenly.

With its pressure-cooked chicken (that accounts for its delicious yumminess), that alone is nearly an unbeatable match when it comes to breakfast. However, this chain has one more trick up its sleeve: A handmade biscuit. Many people might look at this breakfast option and think, 'that's it?' But alas, a handmade biscuit in combination with a perfect piece of fried chicken should never be underestimated.

Taco Bell: Breakfast Bacon Crunchwrap

For less than four bucks, a Breakfast Bacon Crunchwrap can be all yours. This is another breakfast menu item that shouldn't be underestimated - not only is it filled with bacon and scrambled eggs, but there's a science behind the protein to cheese level here that no fast-food chain has been able to beat.

The addition of hash browns only serves to make this breakfast Crunchwrap (we can't rightfully call it a breakfast 'sandwich') the stuff of dreams, especially when it's ridiculously early in the morning and you're in need of something worth waking up to. Alternatively, it's also a great bet if you've had a rough night out the night before and need something that's, well... Taco Bell-ish. No judgment here.

McDonald's: McGriddle

This should be no surprise to anyone. There are McGriddle fans out there who have actually set alarms to make it to McDonald's before the final curtain call (last call) for breakfast.

The line just to get a McGriddle is enough to make anyone hate mornings but the McGriddle and its maple sweetness combined with a pancake exterior are just enough to make up for the long wait. With sausage, egg, and cheese melting together to create a spectacular breakfast sandwich, the McGriddle is truly the winner in its category. A hot cup of coffee is the trick to washing all of this down but for some reason, foodies are always left wishing they'd ordered an extra sandwich... or three.
