There's a new word on the street when it comes to Oreos: They're officially going gluten-free.

This comes after many fans have questioned why it took so long for one of the world's favorite cookies to become suitable for those who have a gluten-free lifestyle and now, their dream has finally come true. The gluten-free Oreos will be hitting the shelves in January of 2021 which is perfect timing when it comes to starting off a new year right. They'll be available in two flavors: Regular and Double Stuf, so fans will have their choice of two beloved options.

There haven't been too many details released about the release of this new Oreo line but it has been confirmed that gluten-free cookie lovers will now have the chance to dunk their cookies along with the rest of the world. It's unclear at this point whether or not more flavors will eventually be coming out with a similar gluten-free recipe, but we're sure we'll know more as time goes on. In honor of the new cookie type, we thought it was time to go back and take a look at all of the best flavors - as voted by fans, of course - to have ever graced our grocery store shelves.

Double Stuf Oreo

The one and only Double Stuf is undoubtedly a favorite and the favored option by most fans over the original classic. There will always be those of us who love the cookie and those who live for the filling and Double Stuf was just the right compromise for both... with a little more oomph.

The Classic Oreo

There's no replacing a classic and it's true with cars but also true with Oreos. The classic Oreo has been ingrained in many of our minds as after-school snacks, late-night desserts, and one of the most comforting sweets out there. Nothing goes better with a glass of cold milk and none of the other flavors really ever compared.

Lemon Oreo

It didn't seem as though lemon would have been a popular choice for Oreo fans but we're thankful that it was. The lemon-flavored Oreos were bright and tangy while still being just as sweet as the classic Oreo. The addition of the golden oreo cookie made these taste stellar compared to many other cardboard-like lemon cookies out there.

Golden Oreo

Speaking of which, the Golden Oreo was another fan fave that was slightly unexpected. However, it is true that not everyone is a hardcore chocolate fan and these Oreos were the answer to that problem. For those who weren't solid fans of the classic flavor, Golden Oreos came swooping in like the golden goddess of a hero they were.

Peanut Butter Oreo

Through a show of hands, how many Oreo fans dunked their cookies in peanut butter? Well, when the Peanut Butter Oreos came out (and then the Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie Oreos), it was the answer to the question many fans had been thinking for so long: "Why not both?" Suddenly, fans were seeing the world through chocolate and peanut butter-colored glasses.

Dark Chocolate Oreo

In stark contrast, there were those who thought that a chocolate cookie was not nearly enough chocolate. These cookies were made with real cocoa and while they weren't totally dark chocolate-ish in the sense that dark chocolate is far less sweet and slightly bitter, they're still a fan favorite. The subtle hint of dark chocolate is more than enough to win over the most hardcore of chocolate fans.

Fudge-Covered Oreo

It seems that Oreos have found every way to mix and match chocolate and vanilla and could, in fact, be called the reigning champs of the process. Fudge-Covered Oreos meant going above and beyond the call of normal cookies as there aren't many out there who pull off an entire chocolate-covered cookie very well. Not surprisingly, these Oreos were decadent and the perfect way to end a bad day... or any day, period.

Carrot Cake Oreo

It wasn't everyone's favorite but the reputation these Carrot Cake Oreos garnered was enough to push them to center stage. The carrot cake flavor was not sickeningly sweet nor was it overwhelming in either direction (carrot or sugar) which is usually the sign of a good carrot cake - not a good Oreo. Unless, of course, the filling is carrot cake-flavored, in which case, Oreos totally won this bold choice.

Mint Oreo

Some argued that this cookie should have come along sooner but nevertheless, we have it now. Mint and chocolate is another favorite pairing (as is seen by the ice cream of the same flavor) so it just made sense that Oreos with mint filling would be a hit... and they were.

Red Velvet Oreo

This cookie was truly only for those who welcomed all of its sweetness. Then again, Red Velvet cake is quite decadent so it was no surprise that the Oreo of the same flavor would be just as sweet. It felt like a miniature piece of cake and tasted shockingly similar, so it was only natural that this would make it to the top flavor list.
