There are so many different ways to enjoy accommodation when you're on holiday or heading away on a business trip, and many of them are perfectly valid options - from staying in a hostel to spending time with a relative and beyond. However, if you want to spend a bit more cash, then either an Airbnb or a hotel is probably the best way to go.

Today we're going to take a look at the benefits of both and hopefully, it'll help you figure out which one you're leaning towards as you prepare for your next big (or potentially small) getaway.

10 AIRBNB - Pet Possibilities

While there is the odd hotel here and there that will bow down to social pressure and let you have a pet visit or stay with you most don’t, mainly for hygiene and allergy purposes.

However, there are quite a few Airbnbs that will allow it – and even more that will actually have pets at the destination which are owned by the landlords or general owners of the property.

9 HOTEL - A Safe

You can feel as safe as you want in an Airbnb, but when there is a legitimate safe in a hotel, that’s a clear and obvious sign that it’s just a little bit safer (excuse the pun).

Hotels have a better system in place to keep you in the know and also keep you in a position where you don’t have to worry. This is especially true if you’re on the higher floors, contrary to popular belief.

They know what they’re doing regarding security and for that, we give them credit.

8 AIRBNB - Homely Feel

It doesn’t matter whether you’re just renting a room for a few days or an entire house for a week, because it always feels a little bit more homely when you’re in an Airbnb.

It’s difficult to recreate this feeling in a hotel unless you’re paying extraordinary money in order to do so.

You have to know what you’re getting in both instances, so we can’t exactly blame hotels all too much, but this is one of the major benefits of staying in an Airbnb and there’s no point in trying to get away from that.

7 HOTEL - Elevators

If you’re in an Airbnb that has an elevator then fair enough, but that’s always a bit of a rarity.

What is not a rarity is finding an elevator (or lift) in a hotel. It serves as a much easier and simpler way of getting to your room than the stairs, especially if your accommodation has a lot of them.

That’s the business side of hotels coming out to shine in a good light, and we’re okay with it. If you’re afraid of lifts, though, then we can understand your hesitation towards being a fan of this entry.

6 AIRBNB - Unique Recommendations

The majority of hotels will have exclusive deals with different brands and companies littered around the area that you’re staying in. However, when it comes to Airbnb, the recommendations are almost always going to be a bit more unique.

You’ll be hearing from a local who has first-hand experience with all of these destinations, which isn’t always the case when you’re staying in a hotel.

Whether it be a restaurant or a fun activity, it’s certainly always worth asking – just in case.

5 HOTEL - Helpful Staff

The staff are quite literally being paid to help you, so it’s probably a smart idea to take them up on that offer from time to time.

The stuff that they’re helping you with doesn’t even need to be particularly significant or important, and it might just be you asking whether or not they’ve got a toilet in the lobby.

To borrow a phrase from a popular British supermarket, every little helps, and a lot of hotel staff will go above and beyond in order to assist however you see fit.

4 AIRBNB - Usually Cheaper

If you’re staying in a hotel that is cheaper than your standard Airbnb, then there’s a good chance you should take a second look at the reviews.

If you want value for money and you want an experience that isn’t going to cost quite as much on the whole, then heading for an Airbnb is almost certainly the way to go.

Sure, you’re going to be a little bit more independent, but you’re going to be well aware of that heading into the experience. It may seem daunting when you take the first step, but trust us, it’s worth it.

3 HOTEL - In-House Restaurant

The majority of hotels will have a restaurant of some description, and while you don’t always have to rate the food particularly high, we’d argue that you should always respect the effort.

You’re on your own if you go for an Airbnb unless you’re staying with a family that is nice enough to cook you dinner.

Hotels serve as the easy option and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. Most of the time, the restaurants will go above and beyond your expectations, too. The same can’t be said of all Airbnbs.

2 AIRBNB - Explore Unique Rooms

Whether it be a pod in the middle of nowhere that resembles the Tardis or a studio apartment with a really fresh look to it, there is something distinctly unique about staying in an Airbnb.

It’s a form of accommodation that is constantly reinventing itself, and the young age of the concept is one of the best things it has going for it.

In terms of the type of location they rent out, there are just no rules. Sometimes it may quite literally be a converted tent or something along those lines, and you know what? We love that.

1 HOTEL - Room Service

It’s late at night and all you want to do is get some food, but if you’re in an Airbnb, you either need to cook something yourself or make the bold decision to venture out and find food in a local establishment.

With a hotel, though, room service is always waiting right around the next corner to take the weight off of your shoulders.

Sure, it can be a bit expensive sometimes, but you’ll feel comfortable knowing that the end product will be decent.
